Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - The Definitive Edition

Mr. Trenchcoat

By
Jarrod Garripoli

As one of the more unique and interesting civilians in the game, Mr. Trenchcoat is a pedestrian that wears a black trenchcoat and a black cowboy hat. He believes he was abducted by aliens, as he can usually be heard saying things related to aliens. You will usually find him in certain areas in Tierra Robada, as well as Bone County. He can also be seen speaking with other pedestrians about “lights in the sky” and an implant in his head.

It’s not exactly clear if this is just a unique little Easter Egg the devs put into the game, or if it’s part of something bigger. He clearly exhibits some signs of paranoia, as if you follow him for too long, he may become hostile and attack you. He also doesn’t seem to flee whenever you aim a firearm at him or fire a shot in the vicinity, like other pedestrians. You will also find that he respawns quite quickly compared to others.

There is one theory that he’s a serial killer, as some people suggested that he was attacking other pedestrians. There is a lone house on a dirt track just off the main road, running south between El Quebrados and Las Barrancas. This place is isolated and a beaten up Sadler spawns there, which some people have mistaken as the same vehicle used in the Mass Grave. Another location where he might live is not far from the first house, which has a land cultivator hidden in some bushes. Considering the desert isn’t the best spot for a farm, it is possible that Mr. Trenchcoat uses this to dispose of bodies.
