Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - The Definitive Edition

Area 69

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Area 69 is a heavily guarded research facility in Bone County. This place can be highly dangerous, as you will instantly get a five-star wanted level if you get too close. Additionally, if you happen to fly over it, you will be shot down by SAM installations (surface-to-air). There are a number of military vehicles present here in the facility, such as a Rhino and Hydra. The entire place is a parody of the Area 51 military base in the state of Nevada in the United States, where many conspiracies suggest that the government is conducting all manner of research surrounding UFOs and aliens.

In addition to the area above ground, there is also an underground facility, but it’s only accessible during the mission, Black Project, for The Truth. Outside of this mission, the facility is locked and the only way to get into it is via a glitch or mod. The biggest thing about the underground complex is that it heavily resembles the Mesa Research Facility from the game, Half-Life. In one of the laboratories, lying on a table, is a red and white crowbar, which is one of the weapons Gordon Freeman (protagonist of Half-Life) yields.
