Ironstone Locations and Uses - Conan Exiles

By
Jessica Dillon

Ironstone is one of the most important materials to find in the early game hours of !Conan Exiles. This is due to the resource being a core part of crafting better weapons, armor, and crafting stations. Ironstone can be tricky to find at first, as it can mix in with the standard rocks, and it only spawns in specific locations. The guide below is here to help you find Ironstone and let you know what you can use it for in the game.

Ironstone can usually be found hugging against mountains in the early game.

What is Ironstone in Conan Exiles?

"Ironstone" iconIronstone is an ore that you can mine from rocks or some types of fauna. It’s the base ingredient you need to make !Iron Ingots, making it one of the most important early game resources you can harvest. The stone that it can be found in is a dark gray color and typically has copper-colored speckles all over it. It can be harvested using a pick, just like with normal stone.

Where to Find Ironstone in Conan Exiles

Ironstone is rather common and can be found in a variety of places around the map, with the closest being around the mountains near the southern portion of the map, where you first spawn in Exiled Lands. You can find some near "Southwatch Keep" iconSouthwatch Keep in the Isle of Siptah to help you get started there. The deposits are usually seen hugging against the mountain, so be sure to look for them there. The table below goes over some areas in both the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah that you can find ironstone nodes near.

Here is where they can be found on the map:

For the most part, you should eventually find Ironstone on your own, as it’s a plentiful resource. In addition to the area around the locations above, you can also get Ironstone when harvesting from defeated "Rocknose" iconRocknose enemies. Likewise, if you keep a Rocknose for a pet, you also have a chance of collecting Ironstone.

Ironstone Uses in Conan Exiles

Ironstone’s primary use is to be placed in the furnace to convert it to "Iron Bar" iconIron Bars. For every two Ironstones you have, you will get one Iron Bar. The Iron Bars can then be used in more advanced recipes like crafting Iron weapons armor or building new items that call for it in their recipes. Here are the other recipes you can make using Ironstone

Recipe Name Item Cost
Shadespiced Iron Ore x25 Ironstone, x1 "Shadebloom" iconShadebloom
Ironstone Siege Boulder x75 Ironstone
Smelted Iron Siege Boulder x75 Ironstone, x10 "Steelfire" iconSteelfire
Rocknose (Variant A) x1 Ironstone, x1 Pebblenose
Greater Rocknose x1 Ironstone, x1 Pebblenose

Feeding pets this will give them a better chance of growing larger and stronger than animals not fed with Shadespiced Iron Ore. Siege Boulder, on the other hand, can be used to easily break down walls when used in a Trebuchet. If you are looking to try to get one of the Rocknose pets, then keep in mind that they have the same recipe, but your chances of getting the pet may differ. The Rocknose variant has an 80% chance of appearing, while the "Greater Rocknose" iconGreater Rocknose only has a 20% chance. All in all, you will primarily be using Ironstone just to make Iron Ingots.
