Purge Rewards in Conan Exiles

By
Scott Peers

The new purge system introduced in Chapter 2 - Age of War in Conan Exiles provides a fun way for you to defend your base against increasingly difficult waves of enemies. You can start a purge whenever you prefer by proclaiming your wealth, so there’s no fear of being ambushed at an inopportune time. The more wealth you have, the more difficult the purge attack will be based on the threat level associated with ten different tiers of wealth. At the same time, the potential rewards for defeating higher threat-level purges will become more significant in the form of better weapons, recipes, schematics, and even high-level thralls such as "Dalinsia Snowhunter" iconDalinsia Snowhunter. On this page, we’ll explain all you need to know about the rewards from purges.

You’ll need a powerful base to defend against the toughest purge attacks in Conan Exiles!

If you want to learn more about the basics of the purge system, be sure to check our pages on How the Purge Works and Tips for Surviving the Purge.

How to Get Rewards From Purges in Conan Exiles

The first thing that you should know about the purge rewards in Conan Exiles is where you can obtain them. It’s important to note that none of the attacking enemy forces will drop rewards as you kill them. Instead, you’ll need to go to their purge camp after you’ve defeated all of the attacking waves. This generally happens when the Stygian commander challenges you to a fight, and you’ll find them inside the purge camp.

When you arrive at the purge camp, you first need to defeat the commander alongside a number of additional enemies that will keep spawning until the commander is dead. If you prefer, you can goad them all back to your base where you can make use of cauldrons, ramparts, or defending thralls to help you. Once all the enemies are dead, be sure to loot the commander for their keys. You can then return to the purge camp and use the keys to open the reward chests.

What Are the Rewards From Purge Attacks?

The only type of reward from purge camps that are currently unique are the Stygian recipes and schematics. There’s only a small number of these currently available, but we hope to see more added in future updates. Other than those, you’ll get access to different types of thralls, normal and legendary weapons and armor, and resources and materials.

Recipes and Schematics From Purges

There are currently a small number of recipes and schematics that you can receive as rewards by completing purges at threat level tier eight or higher. There is a small chance that you can get these from lower threat level tiers, but you’ll almost always get at least a couple of them from level eight onwards.

Purge Reward Thralls

One of the best reward types from the purge attacks is thralls. If you’ve played Conan Exiles for a while, you’ll know that thralls are nothing new. They’re essentially followers who can serve different functions such as guarding your base, crafting, or even act as performing dancers. In theory, you can obtain thralls by attacking any humanoid enemy with a truncheon (blunt weapon), thereby knocking them unconscious. You can then use a binding rope to tie them up and bring them back to your base, where you can set them to work on a Wheel of Pain for a specific amount of time (depending on the strength and value of the thrall) before they’ll finally become your ally.

The way you acquire thralls from purge attacks is much easier, however. All you need to do is look for their cages inside the purge camp once you’ve defeated all of the attacking forces. You can free them from the cages to instantly earn their loyalty, and from there you can command them to do whatever you need, as with regular thralls. The main variable here is that you will get better quality thralls if you defeat purge attacks on higher threat level tiers. In general, a threat level between eight and ten will yield the best thralls.

We’ve listed some of the best thralls that we’ve gained access to from purge attacks below. Sadly, all of these are either combat-based or performers, and there doesn’t seem to be any presence of crafting thralls as rewards from purges yet. Note that some of these followers can also be found in the open worlds of The Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah, so be sure to check our interactive maps for their locations.

Name Type
"Ama the Seductress" iconAma the Seductress Performer
"Ambusher Tyra" iconAmbusher Tyra Archer
"Anja the Dervish" iconAnja the Dervish Archer
"Cimmerian Berserker" iconCimmerian Berserker Fighter
"Conchaka of Hyrkania" iconConchaka of Hyrkania Archer
"Cormag Beastblood" iconCormag Beastblood Fighter
"Dalinsia Snowhunter" iconDalinsia Snowhunter Fighter
Dono’Thelpup Bearer
"Lianeele" iconLianeele Performer
"Makes-Waves" iconMakes-Waves Performer
"Relic Hunter Treasure Seeker" iconRelic Hunter Treasure Seeker Fighter

In addition to the above-named thralls, you can also get various types of Kushite Fighters, Shemite Archers, Zingaran Fighters, and Stygian Fighters (or "Dancer" iconDancers) as thralls, but these aren’t as powerful as the named ones. You may find that you get others depending on your own RNG pool.

Weapons and Armor

In terms of weapon rewards from purges, these can be underwhelming. There is a small chance that you’ll find a legendary weapon in one of the chests from a purge camp, and the chance of you finding one increases between purge attack levels eight - ten. However, even after our extensive testing, we weren’t able to acquire many of these. Even if you are lucky enough to get a legendary weapon, it may not be one that suits your playstyle, so you’ll probably end up giving them to thralls.

In terms of armor, it’s much the same story as with weapons. There’s a small chance of getting decent items, but the chances of acquiring a full set of genuinely good gear are currently extremely low. Again, these are better suited as free items for your thralls to make them slightly more powerful.

Resources and Crafting Materials

One of the better types of rewards from purge attacks comes in the form of resources and materials. You can gain a lot of different resources from just one chest that you loot in a purge camp, so you should always take the time to go through them. You can get anything from gold bars, silver bars, gold coins, and other valuable items, to relatively worthless trinkets and lower-level crafting materials. Still, if you’re in need of a specific type of hide and you can’t be bothered hunting for them, relying on a steady supply from purge attacks is a reasonable option.

One of the good things about getting resources such as gold bars as purge attack rewards is the fact that you can immediately place them in your treasurer’s chest. This will gradually increase your threat level tier, which you’ll want to do if you intend to face ever more difficult purge attacks and have the chance of getting your hands on some of the best rewards in the form of legendary items and thralls. With that said, the exact type of resources, materials, and other rewards that you’ll get is left to random chance, so you can’t always be sure that the effort is going to be worth it.

Higher Threat Level Tiers, Better Rewards

That covers all of the rewards that you can expect to obtain on a regular basis by completing purge attacks. We hope that there will be further updates to the rewards system to make it a bit more interesting, but if you’re primarily engaging with the purge system for the fun that comes with building your base and then defending it from hoards of angry Stygians, any reward that you get at the end is a bonus. The thralls are perhaps the best type of reward from purge camps since you can get multiple thralls from each purge. They also won’t be far from your base, and they’ll immediately become your ally without having to break them in first.

The Stygian recipes and schematics are the only truly unique type of reward from the new purge system, and their value will vary depending on what each player wants. The fact that most of them are cosmetic isn’t great unless you’re really into the Stygian style. We’ll hopefully see more unique recipes and schematics with the updates to come.
