This page offers a guide on how to craft 
Hardened Steel Bars in Conan Exiles. There are several steps involved in making this higher-tier material, and on this page, you’ll find all the information you need on the different crafting components and how to obtain/make them!
The Hardened Steel Bar is a strong material made with Steel Bars and Black Ice.
How to Craft Hardened Steel Bars¶
To make Hardened Steel bars, you’re gonna need to place x1 
Steel Bars and x1 
Black Ice in a 
Furnace with a fuel source like wood or coal. Once all the ingredients are placed in the furnace, it will then produce x1 Hardened Steel Bar in 15 seconds.
You will be able to smelt Hardened Steel Bars at a furnace.
How to Get Black Ice¶
Black 
Ice is quite abundant in the snowy areas of The Exiled Lands and can also be found dotted around the Isle of Siptah too. You can head to our interactive map for The Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah to find Black Ice spawn locations.

How to Get Steel Bars¶
Steel Bars are a bit more involved, and will require a few extra crafting steps to make. You’re going to need x5 
Iron Bars and x1 
Steelfire to make x1 Steel Bar in the furnace.
To get Iron Bars, you’ll just need to place ironstone in the furnace with a source of coal and you’ll produce x1 Iron bar with x2 
Ironstone.
To get Steelfire, however, you’re going to need a Firebowl Cauldron, which can be unlocked by researching the Firebowl Cauldron knowledge skill in the Survival tab. Then, in the cauldron, you’re gonna need to put x2 
Tar and x1 
Brimstone to produce x1 Steelfire.

Brimstone is mined from either yellow rocks (Exiled Lands) or tall black and yellow stalagmites (Siptah) - check out our interactive maps for exact locations! You can also check out our Brimstone guide for more information.
Tar is a byproduct of using the tannery to make leather! All you need to do is tan some hide with bark as a fuel source and it’ll produce x1 Tar for every leather it crafts.

Once you’ve got your Steelfire, you can place it in the furnace with x5 Iron Bars to produce the Steel bars you need.
