Solo and private matches are coming to Darktide sometime around the full launch.

Can you play Darktide solo or in private matches?¶

At some stage in the game’s life, you can play Darktide solo or in private matches. The feature will go live sometime later in the first major patches in December 2022. The news was confirmed to us in a pre-order beta community blog post during the first week of the pre-order beta.

The first section went into detail on the solo mode feature. This mode should become available at launch, depending on the mode’s stability. If it does not, then it will arrive in a patch shortly after launch in December. Those looking for private games with 2-3 friends will also get the private match feature in Darktide. However, that is likely to come sometime later in December. At the time of writing, the feature is still in development, so there are not much other details we can check up on.

If you’re a player looking to play the game solo, then be warned that it comes with a performance risk. The servers in Darktide are all hosted on dedicated servers. If you’re going to play solo, then the user’s PC will host the servers instead. It may mean that your computer experiences frame hiccups or, in-general, runs much slower. If you’re struggling to meet the system requirements anyway, you may want to give the solo mode a miss. Only time will tell how much of a performance hit solo Darktide players will experience, but its a warning worth hearing.
