Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness

Sidequesting (2)

By
Jarrod Garripoli

The first thing you’ll notice when using the teleporter from the Goale is that it doesn’t directly go to any of the towns, so you’ll have to go to one of the normal areas and run to town from those. Your first order of business should be to finish up Quests. If you haven’t done the Ruddle one yet, it’s a good idea to do it. To begin, go into the inn at Central Resulia and talk to one of the people that’s designated as a yellow star to find out he went to Myiddok. From there, talk to someone in Myiddok to learn he’s at the infirmary in Sthal. At the infirmary, you find out he’s return to Central Resulia, where you’ll spot him on the western side by the shops.

While you’re in Central Resulia, go to the bulletin board and grab the new quests from it, then teleport to Santeroule and do the same there. You can also get a new quest from Welch in Myiddok, which is an important one, so do that one first. Things seem to be at an end for Welch and her research, so she sends you off to get both a discarded silver spoon and the ashes of a two-headed Corrupt. Both items drop from specific enemies on the Dakaav Footpath. Tinat of the Dawning Light will be found on the middle bridge towards the northeast. Uen of the Midnight Wail , the other enemy, is found at the location where you fought the Eitalon Leader. Bring both items to Welch to finish and get the Alchemy Specialty skill.

You can get Rubies from Harpyias (left) and buy Silk from the one merchant in Myiddok (right).

Once you turn in the previous quest, exit and reenter to get a new one, Grand Designs . As before, Welch sends you off to fetch some items for her. You’ll need 2 Silvers, a Ruby and 2 Silks for this one. The easiest item will be the two Silks, as you can buy them from the materials vendor in Myiddok. You might already have the other two items, but in case you don’t, Rubies can drop from the Harpyia enemies in the West/North of the Eastern Eihieds areas. Likewise, you can get Silver from the excavation points in the same two areas; if you didn’t get any, then either level up your Excavation skill (level 4 or 5 should be good) or sleep at an inn to reset the points. You’ll receive the Crafting and Ornamentation Specialty skills for finish this quest.

As you might have guessed, you can get one more quest from Welch, for now. This one is called Happy Fun Bunny Time and requires you to deliver 5 bunnylicious pies to Welch. In order to make these pies, you need your Cooking skill at level 1 and will require four ingredients: Wheat Flour, Nectar, Green Fruit and Red Fruit (one of each). You can buy Nectar from the food merchant in Myiddok, as well as Wheat Flour from the one in Santeroule. That leaves the two fruits, both of which drop from enemies in Dakaav Footpath. Adephaga will drop Green Fruits, while Polyphaga drops Red Fruits. Once you have the necessary ingredients, make the five pies and return to Welch. Your rewards this time are the Synthesis Specialty skill and the Bunny Role.

Cathedral of Oblivion

You may have seen some portals in some areas of the game thus far, which lead to the Cathedral of Oblivion. While not entirely important, they do house some missable bestiary entries and the enemies inside of them will change soon, so if you haven’t tried them out, now’s a good chance. There are only three locations right now and you’ll need to visit all three to get the bestiary entries. They are in the Coast of Minoz, Resulian Plains and West of the Eastern Eihieds.

When you visit these three areas, look on your map to see an icon you might not have seen before; this is the same icon as the teleporter on the Charles D. Gaole. The one in Coast of Minoz is located on the southern end, while the one in Resulian Plains can be found in the big, open area on the west side (not from the southwestern exit of Central Resulia). For the final one, you can find it on the upper path near the exit to Santeroule in West of the Eastern Eihieds.

If you don’t see the portals there, you can keep going in and out of the zones until they show up. The bosses at the end of these three instances are all the same, but they are different levels and count as separate entries in the bestiary. At this point in the game, you shouldn’t have any trouble with them, especially if you switched Fiore over to full-time healing. That means disabling her other spells (go to Use Skills, then press Square to access her spell list), and equipping her with the Healer/Savior Roles (don’t use any Roles that will have her attacking).

Miscellaneous Stuff

Once you’ve done the three Cathedral of Oblivion portals above, there’s a few miscellaneous things to cover before continuing on with the story. You should be able to get a PA in Myiddok (it’s a whistle one) that will grant you the Spendthrift Role; the PA’s name is Tipping the Scales When Tipsy . It’s also a good idea to go around and do other PAs, both random and whistle ones, so they don’t get backed up later.

It’s also a good idea to finish up any quests you have in your log, although there are a few you might not be able to complete due to not having access to certain areas. You particularly want to concentrate on the ones that have you killing specific enemies, as well as the ones with rewards that unlock new Specialty skills. For By the Skin of His False Teeth, you can get Wolf Fangs from Kobold Bandits in the Trei’kuran Dunes (there’s a set right in front of where you warp in).

For the Gargans quest, you will find a few sets in Dakaav Footpath. The Skoudde Brothers can be found in the western section of the Resulian Plains, meaning you’ll have to take the southwestern exit in Central Resulia. Napto the Stalwart is along the northern path on Coast of Minoz. While you’re there, head to the Passage on the Cliffs and find/defeat three Walking Conflagrations, who you can find in the circular spot that is connected by a tunnel on the north side. Another unique monster you can get to at this point is Fran of Constant Decay, who is on the lower path by the exit to Santeroule. Finally, there will be one more monster quest at this time, leading you to defeat 5 Corpulent Magvors, which can be found in Dakaav Footpath (by the bridge); you need five of the larger mushrooms, as the smaller ones don’t count.

The transporter on the ship (left) is very convenient in helping you finish quests (right).
