In the town of Myiddok, you will find a certain eccentric inventor named Welch Vineyard on the east side of town, directly across from the equipment shop. When you visit her shop for the first time, you will view a PA and automatically get her first Quest once it’s over (it is like this whenever she has a new Quest available). Welch’s quests are important, since she usually gives you something in return that unlocks more Specialty Skills, which are needed to do things like Item Creation. Throughout the game, you can return to her to get more Quests from her, up to a total of nine of them.
If It Tastes like Blueberries, It Must Be Good for you
When | Rewards |
---|---|
On first visit to Myiddok | 100 EXP, 100 Fol, 30 SP, Compounding the Issue (Compounding Specialty), Blueberry Potion |
Your task for this quest is very simple, as you just need to bring back five Blueberries to Welch. If you don’t have the required amount on hand, in case you used up a bunch of them on your trek to the town, then you can simply purchase more from the shop in town. The reward for this is your first foray into item creation, as the Compounding specialty skill will be available to unlock; this one allows you to create items to use in battle.
Drunk on Creation

Finish If It Tastes like Blueberries | 300 EXP, 150 Fol, 75 SP, Just Enough Cooks (Cooking Specialty), Fishing: An Alluring Pasttime (Fishing Specialty), Lemon Juice |
This is another very easy quest for Welch, as you need to deliver to her both a Lemon and Spring Water. If you don’t have either of them, you can purchase both from the same vendor inside of Myiddok. Bring them both back to Welch to finish the quest, netting you not one new Specialty, but actually two…Cooking and Fishing!
Brute Strength of Blacksmith
When | Rewards |
---|---|
Complete Drunk on Creation | 500 EXP, 400 Fol, 80 SP, Smithing the Night Away (Smithery Specialty), Dig Deep Within (Excavation Specialty) |
You will likely find yourself having to hunt for some of the items for this Quest, although you may have enough on hand. To finish this one, you need to turn in 3 Iron and 5 Wooden Sticks. The Iron is the one you likely already have plenty of, but Apprentice Scumbags drop them frequently and can be found on the Resulian Plains. Likewise, there are some enemies that drop Wooden Sticks on the Resulian Plains, especially if you have access to the tougher enemies. Both Apprentice Scumbags and Man-Eating Trees will drop them. You get another two Specialty Skills for completing this quest, Smithery is another item creation one and Excavation is similar to Harvesting, but with ores.
The End of Welch’s Laboratory!?
When | Rewards |
---|---|
Speaking to Ceisus in Santeroule first time | 800 EXP, 300 Fol, 100 SP, We All Scream For Alchemy (Alchemy Specialty), Alchemist’s Water (x3) |
Welch is in dire need of some help, as it looks like her research is finally coming to an end, along with her laboratory. As a last experiment, she wants you to go retrieve two items for her, a discarded silver spoon and the ashes of a two-headed Corrupt. Both of these will drop from unique enemies that will spawn in Dakaav Footpath once you have the quest in your log. Tinat of the Dawning Light will be found on the middle bridge towards the northeast. Uen of the Midnight Wail , the other enemy, is found at the location where you fought the Eitalon Leader. Your reward for turning in the items and finishing the quest is the Alchemy Specialty skill.
Grand Designs
When | Rewards |
---|---|
Speaking to Ceisus in Santeroule first time | 1100 EXP, 700 Fol, 125 SP, Crafty Crafting Techniques (Crafting Specialty), Mind Bracelet |
Welch needs three things from you for this quest, two pieces of Silver, one Ruby and two sheets of Silk. The easiest item to acquire is the Silk , as you can buy it from the one vendor in town (they cost 1200 Fol each). For the Ruby , the Harpyia enemies in West/North of the Eastern Eihieds will drop them from time to time. You can also get Silver from the excavation spots in the same area, although you might need to increase the level of the skill to four or five before you’re able to get them. You’ll receive two new Specialty skills from finishing this quest, Crafting and Ornamentation, the latter of the two being a new Item Creation option called Augmentation that lets you add stats and other factors to your accessories.
Happy Fun Bunny Time
When | Rewards |
---|---|
Speaking to Ceisus in Santeroule first time | 1600 EXP, 1000 Fol, 150 SP, Intro to Intelligent Item Design (Synthesis Specialty), Vitalitea |
In order to finish this quest, you will need to bring five Bunnylicious Pies to Welch. These items require you to make them via Item Creation and requires Cooking at level 1. In order to make them, you’re going to need one of each of the following four items: Wheat Flour, Nectar, Green Fruit and Red Fruit (so you’ll need five of each to make five of them). Nectar can be bought in Myiddok and Wheat Flour can be bought in Santeroule. That leaves the two fruits, both of which drop from enemies in Dakaav Footpath. Adephaga will drop Green Fruits, while Polyphaga drops Red Fruits. Make the pies and bring them back to Welch, earning yourself the Synthesis Specialty skill, as well as a new Role (Bunny).
Of Weapons and Womanizers
When | Rewards |
---|---|
After you invade Eastern Trei’kur | 2000 EXP, 1300 Fol, 180 SP, The Little Engineer That Could (Engineer Specialty), Healing Device x3 |
You will need Emmerson in your party before Welch will offer this quest to you. She requires of you a total of five Micro Circuits to finish this quest. Now, if you managed to clear the Cryptic Research Facility earlier in the main story of all of its chests, then you should have a total of eight Micro Circuits in your inventory, provided you didn’t use or sell any of them. Otherwise, you won’t be able to find any until you go to the Symbological Facility Prime dungeon in the Rescue Mission section of the main story, where they drop off of the Phantom Dragoon enemies. Your reward is another Item Creation specialty, called Engineering.
Behavioral Study
When | Rewards |
---|---|
After stepping foot in Trei’kur Slaughtery | 4000 EXP, 2500 Fol, 250 SP, The Pen Is Mightier (Authoring Specialty), Parchment |
This quest is a lot easier than the previous ones, as instead of having to procure some items for Welch, you simply need to defeat a single enemy, even though she doesn’t mention this at all. If you read the quest description via your menu, you will see you need to defeat something called a Sanddozer. Luckily, this enemy is quite easy to find, as it can be located in the middle of the Trei’kuran Dunes. Defeat it to get the Enemy Report, then go back to Welch to finish the quest. You will unlock the Authoring Specialty skill for completing this question, which allows you to make skill books for most of your characters, as well as consumable Signet Cards.
Keys to the Present in the Past
When | Rewards |
---|---|
After finishing the Cavaliero | 6000 EXP, 5000 Fol, 280 SP, Equipped to Handle Anything (Whetting and Fortification Specialties), Heroism Potion |
This is the final quest for Welch and is similar to the previous one, as you only need to kill a specific enemy. The enemy is named Revenant Swordmaster Daeus and is accompanied by a bunch of Malice Coalesced foes (the little dice-looking ones). Whenever you can teleport to the Northern Territory of Sohma, you will find all of the enemies right next to where you land. Defeat them and bring the key item back to Welch to gain the ability to augment both weapons and armor now.
