Sons of the Forest is nearly ready to go live, and with the excitement, it’s time to check if you can run Sons of the Forest. The good news is this game isn’t particularly a hard game to run, but the bad news is if your machine is fairly dated to the midpoint last decade, you may encounter issues. Let’s take a look at the Sons of the Forest system requirement and help inform your purchasing.

Sons of the Forest System Requirements¶

As per the official system requirements for Sons of the Forest’s Steam page, players will need the following:

The Graphics is the interesting part regarding the requirements of the Sons of the Forest system. At minimum, you need the 3GB version of the budget GPU, the 1060. So, it means that cards that are equivalent to it are the 970 and other mid-2010 mid-level GPUS. The other interesting point is that the recommended GPU is the 1080.The 1080 is a step up from the 1060, but, it is also behind the vast majority of 20** series cards, apart from the base 2060 model. So, the good news is if you have invested in a PC sometime around the 2018 era to current day, you will likely have the GPU to run this game.

As for the CPU, it’s slightly more demanding. The minimum CPU is dated to a mid-range I5 processor released around 2017. So, if you have any CPU since that point, you will likely easily handle the game. The better quality CPUs seem to be the CPUs designed for the mid to solid CPUs for the 2017 era PCs. So, once again, if you have an I7 or equivalent Ryzen from that period or later on, then you will easily beat the recommended specs for the CPU.

In summary, if you have got a mid-spec PC built from 2017 onwards, you have more than enough power to play the game comfortably, per the official Sons of the Forest system requirement on Steam.
