Just like in The Forest, players need to go ahead and find a Keycard in the Sons of the Forest. It’s a bit of a progression block to get int otherwise locked-out areas of the underground bunkers. Luckily for you, there is a 
Maintenance Keycard in the early game, which you can use to unlock these bunker doors and go and explore. Here is how to get the Sons of the Forest Maintenance Keycard.
How to get the Sons of the Forest Maintenance Keycard item¶

To grab the Maintenance Keycard in the Sons of the Forest, you will need to go and do the first three main caves. These caves are the Miners Cave: The Slingshot Cave, and the Beach Cave.
The reason for this is that you get quite a few items needed to reach this point.
- Miners Cave grants you the Rope Gun
- Beach Cave grants you the Rebreather
- Slingshot Cave grants you the Shovel.
You need to do it in this order as well, thanks the first two caves on the list both giving items needed to traverse the Slingshot cave, which is where you get the shovel.
Once you have the shovel, you must venture to one of the green circle points of interest on your GPS Tracker. The one in question is the one near the slingshot cave. If you’re looking out of the cave, look at the green blip on your GPS tracker fully zoomed out. This will take you to a dig site guarded by two golf caddies. Head to it, and start digging. You will eventually start revealing a hatch buried under the soil called Maintenance A. Open it and head inside down the ladders.
Now that you’re inside, you can head down the corridor where the dead maintenance workers are. You will also hear music blasting from down the corridor, To the right, part way down the corridor is an open living space. Go inside, and check the desk. On the desk by the 
3D Printer is a keycard. Congratulations, you have now acquired the Sons of the Forest Keycard you need for the early points of interests.

Where can you use the Maintenance Keycard in the Sons of the Forest?¶

Now you have two nearby options to use the Sons of the Forest Maintenace Keycard:
- Food Bunker near the beach
- The original 3D Printer Cave
- There’s also one cave on the west side of the island (where the sun sets), but that is much later on in the game.
The Food Bunker is another green blip on the GPS Tracker. You can find this closer towards the beach, near the Beach Cave. It is also near one of the GPS Trackers you are looking for with your fallen helicopter crew members. In there, you can open a door near the larder.
The other area you can explore that we are aware of at the moment is the 3D printer Cave. This is below the lake area that forms through the several streams coming from the mountain and closer towards the Miner’s Cave than where you get the keycard.
