In Sons of the Forest, you can equip Armor by crafting it or carving it off a dead cannibal or animal. This will add armor segments next to the health bar that will take the hit for you instead of your health which can be the difference between surviving or dying. This page will show you all the Armor currently available in the game.
If you look next to the health bar, you’ll see the armor segments to the left of it. Each color represents a different armor.
What is Armor?¶
Armor, not to be confused with clothing such as the Tactical Jacket will add armor segments next to your health. When you’re attacked and get hit, the armor will absorb some damage, which can save your life against the tougher enemies in the game. You can add up to 10 pieces of Armor on yourself at any given time, and when one breaks due to being attacked, you can craft another piece to fill it back up.
Where to Get Leaf Armor¶
Leaf Armor needs to be crafted in your inventory. The recipe for it is:
Material 1 | Material 2 |
---|---|
Leaf x10 | Cloth x1 |
This will only craft one segment of this armor, and you will need to replicate the recipe 10 times to get a full 10 segments of Leaf Armor.
Once you’ve crafted the Bone Armor, equip it with the left mouse button. When equipped, the armor segment will display a green color.
Where to Get Creepy Armor¶
Creepy Armor is obtained by skinning various Cannibals throughout the map with your Utility Knife that you have from the start. Stand over the dead cannibal, and hold
to skin it. Note: This doesn’t work on all cannibals, if you have the pickup icon instead, you won’t be able to skin them.
Once you’ve crafted the Creepy Armor, equip it with the left mouse button. When equipped, the armor segment will display a pink color.
Where to Get Bone Armor¶
Bone Armor was a staple in the first game, and you can craft it by placing the following items on your crafting mat:
(1 of 2) Once you’ve crafted the Bone Armor, equip it with the left mouse button. When equipped, the armor segment will display a yellow color.

You’ll need some Tech Mesh for this armor which can only be crafted on the
3D Printers which you can find here.
Batteries can be found in this Bunker as well as other locations, and the
Circuit Board can be found in the Food Storage Bunker among other locations.
Once you’ve crafted the Tech Armor, equip it with the left mouse button. When equipped, the armor segment will display an orange color.
Where to Get Gold Armor¶
The Gold Armor is different from the rest as it will give you 10 segments of armor from the start. Unfortunately, there is only one in the game, so when it goes, it’s gone. Note: You can exploit this by saving in the room that contains it before picking it up, and reloading your save. As to where you can find it, it’ll be in a bunker to the east, next to the lake, but be warned, this leads to the last area in the game. You can find more information on where to find it on our How to Get the Gold Armor page.
