Near the beginning of the game, Ichiban musters up the courage to ask long-time friend and former partner in justice Saeko out on a date. Thing is, after years in the slammer followed by the hectic events of the last game, Ichiban hasn’t had much experience with dating. That being the case, Ichiban makes the fateful decision to ask his friends (both single, btw) Nanba and Adachi for tips. While you can’t do much to change the outcome of this date, the choices you make can influence your [Personality Traits]. This page will cover the choices you can make during your date with Saeko, including the consequences of each choice.
How Should You Wait for Saeko?¶
First up, the boys will try to cover how you’re going to wait for Saeko to show up. Do you play it cool, maybe take a little nappy-nap, or do you stand straight like a statue with a metal rod up its nethers? Don’t worry about Nanba or Adachi’s reactions, they don’t care much either way, but you will get Style for agreeing with Nanba and Passion for taking Adachi’s suggestion.
What Food to Get on Your Date?¶
Next up, what kind of grub are you going to grab? Nanba thinks you should play it safe and get something you know you like (even if Ichiban’s tastes aren’t exactly refined), while Adachi… well, he thinks you should torture yourself while you eat. Agreeing with Nanba will earn you Passion +30 for sticking to your convictions, while taking the risk of spicy curry as Adachi recommends will boost your Passion by +30.
Option | Result |
---|---|
Go for the usual beef bowl | Confidence +30 |
Be brave and eat spice level 100 curry | Passion +30 |
What Should You Wear on Your Date with Saeko?¶
After deciding how to wait for Saeko and what eats to get, the boys will obsess over Ichiban’s clothes. Nanba is once again based and thinks you need to be comfortable and laid back, while Adachi suggests something flashier… perhaps a bit too flashy. Taking the more “natural” look, as Nanba suggests, will earn you Intellect +30, while Adachi’s more primal razzle dazzle will boost your Style by +30.
How to Respond to Saeko’s Supposed Hotel Suggestion?¶
Now that the details have been hammered out with the boys, all you need to do is head back to Kasuga’s apartment and hit the sack. The next day, the date will begin and it won’t be long before an embarrassing misunderstanding pops up. Having the best of intentions (despite his mind being in the gutter), Ichiban can choose to emulate one his two true loves in response to this predicament: Be genuine like Nanba (Charisma +30) or play it cool like Adachi (Passion +30).
Option | Result |
---|---|
Be like Nanba and tell her how you feel | Charisma +30 |
Be like Adachi and play it cool | Passion +30 |
Who to Talk About During the Date?¶
After navigating the treacherous hotel misunderstanding, Ichiban doubles down during a smoke break to bring up his boys, Nanba and Adachi. If you choose to talk about Nanba you’ll get Charisma +30, and chatting about Adachi will earn you Kindness +30. Saeko doesn’t fail to notice how heavily Ichiban seems to lean on his bros.
How to Cover for Saeko’s Menu Embarrassment?¶
When their smoke break is over, Saeko will rescue the date by remembering a restaurant they can go to. Unfortunately the place has an inscrutable menu which trips Saeko up. Ichiban’s hero instinct kicks in and he’ll once again reference his dudes for inspiration on how to save Saeko from her embarrassment. Emulate Nanba and don’t make a big deal out of it to get Charisma +30 or console Saeko by channeling Adachi to earn Confidence +30. Either choice ends surprisingly well, as the restaurant is admirably in tune to the needs of its clientele.
Option | Result |
---|---|
Be like Nanba and just move on | Charisma +30 |
Be like Adachi and cover for her | Confidence +30 |
Who to Emulate When Acting as Saeko’s Boyfriend?¶
Most things end with a fight in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and Ichiban’s date with Saeko is no exception. There are endless hordes of creeps and stalkers (and the retinues they somehow gather) out there, and one such specimen is fixated on Saeko. Guess it comes with her line of work… Anyways, Ichiban has to play the part of Saeko’s boyfriend, and it’s awfully telling that he can’t even manage this without invoking Nanba or Adachi. If you emulate Nanba you’ll get Kindness +30, while trying to be cool and stylish like Adachi will score you Intellect +30.
Option | Result |
---|---|
A guy like Nanba: real down-to-earth | Kindness +30 |
A guy like Adachi: cool and stylish | Intellect +30 |
Which Answers to Choose During the Date With Saeko?¶
As you can see, your dialog choices mostly just give you [Personality Traits], change up dialog a bit, and cause Ichiban to wear different clothes. The former are what matter, at least in the short term, as Personality Traits are often prerequisite for unlocking new jobs. Of these, the Kunoichi and Samurai have arguably the more immediately useful skills, and these require Intellect and Confidence, respectively. Picking these whenever you can will give you a bit of progress on these Personality Traits and reduce the amount of work you have to do later to unlock the aforementioned jobs… not that it’s essential - there’s plenty of points to go around in the long run. Style and Kindness are also useful as they help unlock the Desperado and Housekeeper jobs, respectively, but these should be viewed as secondary to the Kunoichi and Samurai.
