Irene will also advise Link to visit her grandmother north of the Eastern Palace. To find her, start from the big bridge south-west of the Eastern Palace area (one screen right from Link’s House) and follow the path north. First you must cross through a sandy wasteland dotted with rock pillars.

Next you’ll walk besides a river, with a wooden bridge halfway along; ignore the bridge and continue north. Finally, you’ll reach a corner; here, turn right to find the Witch’s Hut. Along the way, be careful of monsters you may not have encountered before.

There’s a weather vane next to the Witch’s Hut, allowing for easy access back to it. Now there’s no excuse not to visit again, even if the initial trek was a bit of a… trek. Inside the hut, you can purchase a variety of potions with different effects when consumed. To purchase a potion, you must have an empty Bottle. Except for the Red Potion, you will also need to exchange potion ingredients to have a potion brewed–you can find these from treasure chests or after felling monsters.

Before leaving, be sure to rescue Maimai #33 stuck on the wall to the left; merge into the nearby wall and emerge behind the Maimai to force it off. Good thing you found it quick or the witch might mistake it for a potion ingreident!
