Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Big Game

Big Game

“This Dwarf claims to know the location of more Artifacts from Celebrimbor’s past.”

Talion will find Torvin cleaning a Caragor he killed. The Dwarf will spout some hunter logic, and mock Talion’s military past. He also mentions that his ultimate goal-his white whale, so to speak-is a gigantic Graug. After further banter, Torvin finds Talion’s outlook on the hunt to leave something wanting, and sets out to teach Talion the basics. Follow your Dwarven buddy, and he’ll spell out our first objective-to mount a Caragor. More walking ensues, and Torvin tells some “Caragors (cats) hate water jokes” and “my wife nags me” jokes before returning to praising the hunt.

Eventually you’ll reach a ledge, below which you’ll see some Caragors frolicking in the distance. Torvin will teach you the “Caragor Hunter” Ability, which now allows you to Counter Caragor bite attacks (Triangle). Once you do so, a Caragor will be stunned, and mountable (R1). Put this into practice on a Caragor below, and after the Caragor is dominated, Torvin will follow suit. Apparently the very touch of his sexy Dwarf hands is enough to tame the beast. Lucky him. Or maybe he’s got some Wraith bound to him, too? Nah. Dwarves are just awesome like that.

Anywho, more banter will ensue as you follow Torvin, this time, however, you ride. After a bit Torvin decides to test your mounted combat skills, which will let him know just how well you dominated your Caragor. This, of course, means picking on Uruks, and a guy like Torvin wants a bit of a challenge-kill Uruks in the target area, and compete against Torvin, the bonus objective for this mission being to score more kills than Torvin. Of course, you can always cheat by shooting Uruks while mounted, which will easily put you ahead of Torvin. Follow him further and you’ll be tasked with killing three Archers (your standing competition to kill more Uruks is still in effect). Kill them, follow Torvin to a campsite and kill more Uruks (Detonate the campfire to score some cheap kills).

Next Torvin decides to go after some “fresh prey”, and leads you to ambush a large Uruk patrol. Once they’re all dead, Torvin will chastise you with missing an Uruk, who is running off to get reinforcements. Chase the Uruk down and kill it, then head back to Torvin, who is quiet for the first time this mission, which leads Talion to think something might be wrong. All he finds in the clearing are tracks, which you’ll need to follow. The tracks are ambiguous, but follow the ones to the south-east to find Torvin on the ground, being picked on by Uruks. Perform a mounted takedown (R2 + Square) and kill the two Uruks to save Torvin, who insists he had everything well in hand. Talion will get impatient at Torvin for wasting his time, but Torvin assures us all the hunting nonsense is teach us life lessons, and building to the answers we’re looking for.

Reward Bonus Objective
600 XP 150 Mirian
