Many tribes vie for supremacy in the jungle, but few are as universally loathed as the Orok. Their indiscriminate use of poison has harmed themselves, their enemies, even the land itself, and to better endure this scourge you’ll be asked to find a sample of the poison they use so an antidote can be crafted. This page will provide a walkthrough for the side quest The Slithering Dead in Path of Exile 2.
Page Breakdown¶
Starting The Slithering Dead¶
When you reach Act 3 you’ll need to pass through the Sandswept Marsh to reach the Ziggurat Encampment, where you’ll find Servi. Keep her in mind and keep progressing the quest The Legacy of the Vaal, passing through The Jungle Ruins until you find the entrance to a side dungeon, The Venom Crypts. This isn’t much of an ask, as this dungeon will be near the Waypoint, which you presumably want to find anyways. Once you find this dungeon, take the Waypoint back to the Ziggurat Encampment and talk to Servi, who should give you this quest.
Find the Source of the Azakh-Kul Poison¶
Once this quest has been properly started, enter The Venom Crypts and, wouldn’t you know it, the place is filled with venomous critters! Poison resistance will serve you well here, but you’ll likely just need to get used to seeing your health bar turn green regularly as you battle your way through throngs of snakes, shamblers and rats.
Your goal is to find a corpse from which you can extract Corpse-Snake Venom, and like many things in Path of Exile 2, the location is random. You will always find the corpse in a three-pointed cavern connected to the rest of the zone by a narrow passage with a checkpoint outside - the checkpoint isn’t exclusive to this cavern, but there are few enough checkpoints in the area to make it a worthwhile landmark to look out for.
Find the chamber the corpse is in and search it for the Corpse-Snake Venom. With this in hand, return to Servi and she’ll grant you a choice of rewards:
The Slithering Dead Reward Choice¶
Reward | Effect |
---|---|
Venom Draught of Stone | Grants 25% increased Stun Threshold |
Venom Draught of the Veil | Grants 30% increased Elemental Ailment Threshold |
Venom Draught of Clarity | Grants 25% increased Mana Regeneration rate |
You can only pick one reward, and while it generally depends on your build and playstyle which one you’ll want, the increased Mana Regeneration is a pretty good all-rounder choice that’ll help you in just about any situation against any foe.
