Ketzuli, High Priest Location¶
You can find Ketzuli atop the Temple of Kopec during the Legacy of Vaal main campaign mission during Act 3. When you initially enter the boss arena, the battle might not start for you. If that is the case, head to the northern part of the arena to trigger the battle as that is where you’ll find Ketzuli, in the air.
Ketzuli, High Priest Attacks and Moves¶
Using the power of the sun, expect to deal with a variety of fiery goodness. From small and large fireballs to fireballs appearing through portals, Ketzuli has it all. Let’s take a look at its attacks.
Explosive Dash¶
Ketzuli will dash toward you and release a small explosion. It can use this attack multiple times in succession. Make sure you roll toward Ketzuli when the dash reaches you to avoid the attack.
Fireball¶
This is one of Ketzuli’s regular attacks, where it will throw random small fireballs at your location. Anything but standing still will evade the attack.
Fiery Laser¶
Ketzuli will let loose a laser from its head in a straight line in front of it. Simply move in any direction to avoid the attack.
Fiery Black Hole¶
During the battle, Ketzuli will throw a large fiery orb onto the battlefield. This orb will slowly move through the arena, damaging anything in its path until it finally explodes. As the battle progresses, Ketzuli will put more than one of these out in the arena. Keep away from these, especially when it’s about to explode, to avoid taking significant damage.
Fire Orbs¶
Ketzuli will unleash a multitude of small orbs of fire that move in random directions. There’s not much you can do to avoid the attack or move between them as they get close.
Rotating Fire Beam¶
Ketzuli will open a small portal, unleashing a large beam of fire that reaches the end of the arena. After the initial burst, it will rotate the beam clockwise. Run behind Ketzuli and keep moving around with the beam while staying behind. This is a great time to get some melee attacks in.
Rain of Fire¶
Later on in the battle, Ketzuli will hurl down a barrage of small comets at your location. This will track your position until the spell ends. Roll the initial attack, and keep moving until the spell finishes.
Ketzuli, High Priest Strategy¶
This battle is a lot easier than it looks. At first, there is so much going on that it can be intimidating, but once you learn the attacks, a lot of the attacks don’t deal a lot of damage, especially if you have an Energy Shield. The only attacks that truly matter are the attacks that explode, so, Fiery Black Hole, and Explosive Dash. Although the beam attacks can deal respectable damage, they’re easy to avoid by simply staying behind Ketzuli.
As the boss is fire incarnate, naturally ice attacks will reign supreme, but any attacks will do, especially lighting if you apply shock on the boss. As always, ranged attacks are king, but as Ketzuli has a lot of them as well, melee is a good option too. The best time to attack Ketzuli is when it casts anything with a long animation, so any of the beam attacks with the Rotating Fire Beam attack is preferred.
When Ketzuli starts throwing the entire sun at you, wait out all the fire orbs by going to the edge of the arena, but be prepared to dodge if it uses a beam or Rain of Fire. Finally, if you equip a charm with fire resistance as well as any equipment or skills, it’ll make the battle a lot easier for you. Once you’ve defeated Ketzuli, interact with the portal to speak to Alva, and watch the scene play out to continue with this never-ending mission.
