Asinia, the Praetor’s Consort Location¶
As mentioned above, you’ll need to explore two mausoleums and take out the bosses that reside inside if you wish to create the key that opens the Memorial Gate and the way forward. Asinia inhabits the Tomb of Consorts dungeon in the Cemetery of the Eternals, a Level 8 dungeon. The cemetery itself isn’t large, at least compared to some of the other maps in Path of Exile 2, so you shouldn’t have too many issues locating it, just make sure you’re around the recommended level of 8 by the time you reach there. If you have a way of enhancing your Fire resistance, this is also a good thing to do before heading to the Tomb.
After you enter the dungeon, you’ll need to make your way around the tomb until you reach a large chamber, a Checkpoint will give you a clue that you’re in the right direction. The skeletons in this area will use fire-based attacks against you, so that’s where the resistance will come in handy if you have it. Unlike the Mausoleum of the Praetor, the enemies here tend to be more difficult, so be sure to keep your distance if you’re a ranged class, or be prepared to dodge often as melee.
Before you head to the Consort though, don’t forget to look for Haunted Treasure point of interest on the map, you’ll need to defeat a tough Elite enemy, but after you’ll find a chest that could contain some useful loot.
Asinia Boss Strategy¶
The large arena should give you some clues on what to expect going in, Asinia will use attacks that cover a large area so you’re going to need to be ready to dodge constantly throughout the battle while looking for your openings. As with most bosses, you’ll find a whole host of attacks that Asinia can use against you, and you can read about those below:
Spirit Sigils¶
If you’ve already defeated Draven, you’ll know what to expect from this attack. Asinia will conjure multiple large sigils on the ground that will then explode, causing massive damage. Keep on the move during this attack, ignoring the opportunities to attack.
Melee Combo¶
Asinia will attempt to slash you with her sickle, this can be chained up to four times and hits in a small arc. This is the easiest attack to avoid, just keep your distance and use any ranged attacks you may have available.
Teleport Shockwave¶
Asinia can teleport at will, and she will always target your current position, causing a small shockwave around where she lands. If you see her teleport, immediately keep on the move so as to avoid the shockwave when she lands.
Spirit Trap¶
Asinia will use spiritual energy underneath you to limit your movement, making you move and roll a lot slower. If you find yourself caught in this, pay more attention to evading attacks rather than going on the offensive, especially if she uses her Spirit Sigils attack.
Bone Wall¶
Asinia will conjure a circular wall of Bones around you, which can trap you inside and make it difficult to avoid her follow-up attacks. As soon as she casts it, start attacking a portion of the wall in hopes of depleting its health and freeing yourself. Shortly after you’re trapped, she’ll drop Bone Spears into the area that’s inside the wall.
Skull Volley¶
Asinia will conjure a large group of spiritual skulls and shoot them out in a volley at your location. Keep on the move and try to create some distance to avoid the brunt of the attack, she will often use this at the same time as Spirit Sigils later in the battle.
Summon Draven¶
Asinia will summon Draven, the other boss for this quest, and he will use his Spirit Bolts attack, shooting them out in an arc. Once you see his spirit summoned, create some distance so you have a larger gap to run through.
Spirit Absorption¶
Multiple spirits will appear across the battlefield, and start moving toward Asinia, any that she consumes will buff her and slightly modify her attacks. To prevent this, make sure you run into the spirits yourself so that they dissipate.
When it comes to the two bosses you need to beat for the Sorrow Among Stones quest, Asinia is by far the more difficult of the two. For the starters, she has far more attacks you’ll need to watch out for, with the majority of them being rather large AoEs. As with both bosses, beware of the hole in the center of the arena, it can cause you to easily get caught on it and make it hard to dodge.
The easiest time to attack Asinia is after breaking the Bone Wall, as if you get out of there quick enough, you can hit her easily without retaliation as she will continue to cast the Bone Spears to land in the Bone Wall’s area. Alternatively, if you know when you dodge when she uses her Teleport Shockwave, you can easily find an opening there. This is a boss that favors ranged attacks, so you may struggle if you’re not yet used to dodging as a melee character.
Once Asinia is defeated, be sure to collect Asinia’s Memorial Key Piece that drops and any other loot that may be useful. If this is the first boss you’ve killed in the Sorrow of the Stones quest, then you’ll need to kill Draven for the other piece, otherwise, take both pieces to the gate and proceed forward.
