The Queen of Filth Location¶
You can find The Queen of Filth in the aptly named Apex of Filth map during Act 3 of the main campaign. When you enter the map, explore it, and you’ll eventually come across The Stenching Pools, where she resides.
The Queen of Filth Attacks¶
As mentioned earlier, The Queen of Filth will have a variety of debilitating glyphs that place a curse on you if you stand in the glyph while mushroom spores appear over the arena before they explode. Despite her size, the queen is surprisingly quick, leaping with venomous slams, and hard-hitting melee attacks with her hammer. Let’s take a look at her attacks.
Overhead Smash¶
The Queen will raise the hammer above her head before letting it crash down at you, leaving behind caustic ground. A simple dodge on either side of the boss allows you to avoid the attack.
Boulder Toss¶
This attack doesn’t happen too often, but if you are a far distance from the boss, she’ll occasionally throw what looks like a boulder of some kind. This doesn’t deal too much damage, and simply moving in any direction will avoid it.
Venomous Slam¶
The Queen will leap at you from range and slam down at your location before performing a smaller slam right after it. This will leave behind a pool of poison on the floor, slowly reducing your health if you stand in it. The attack itself is easy enough to dodge, just roll toward the location where the attack started when she’s about to land.
Explosive Spores¶
During the fight, lines of orange mushroom spores appear all across the arena. After a short time, these lines will explode, dealing significant damage. It’s okay to move across these lines, but make sure you’re not standing on them when they explode.
Temporal Curtains - Curse Glyph¶
The first glyph is Temporal Curtains, which slows you down when walking on top of it. This should be avoided at all costs, as it will make avoiding other attacks significantly harder. The color of this glyph is purple.
Vulnerability - Curse Glyph¶
The Vulnerability glyph will reduce your armor while standing on the glyph, making you take more damage. The color of this glyph is red.
Enfeeble - Curse Glyph¶
The Enfeeble glyph is green and reduces your attack, making you deal less damage while standing on it.
The Queen of Filth Strategy¶
A lot is going on in this battle, but the main threat is her melee attacks. These deal a lot of damage and can potentially one-shot you if you’re not at full health. Naturally, standing on the curse glyphs is a bad thing, especially Temporal Curtains as it will slow you down, making her melee attacks hit their mark.
The explosive spores feel more like a gimmick than an attack if you’re paying attention, although it does deal a lot of damage if you’re standing on it when it explodes. Outside the attacks mentioned above, The Queen will repeatedly swing her hammer at you or slam it down as her regular melee attacks and these deal respectable damage, so should be avoided by rolling after a couple of attacks on her.
As with every boss, powerful ranged attacks are her weakness, but she can close the gap pretty quickly with her Leaping Slam attack, so reposition after you dodge it to the other side of the arena. During the battle, she’ll call in some additional monsters, but these are the regular Flathead enemies you’ve fought in the area, and a couple of area-of-effect attacks will take them out in no time.
That’s pretty much it for this boss, stay out of the curses, dodge the leaping slam attacks, and use ranged attacks to take her down. Upon her defeat, she’ll drop the Temple Door Idol quest item required to progress the main story.
