The second Steelrising boss is yet another mini-boss, which appears at the end of the first mission in Saint-Cloud. As you get to the pier, you will find a new monster spawns, featuring the Unstable Lightning Ram Automaton. This is one of the first heavy-hitting and elemental-focused enemies in the game, serving as a solid tutorial boss to game mechanics. Here are some tips and tricks for handling Steelrising’s Unstable Lightning Ram, which will help you going forward for the rest of the game.
Steelrising Unstable Lightning Ram Tips and Tricks¶
The Unstable Lightning Ram is a slow-moving, but heavy-hitting foe, which will teach players that dodging at the right time is key, including the direction you need to dodge oncoming attacks. Heading into this fight, we recommend taking things slow, studying the boss’ patterns, and then going from there.
As for the boss’s actual mechanics, there are several moves you need to watch out for. These moves include:
Ram: The boss uses its massive ram, pulling backwards and lunging towards you with it. When you see the boss pull the weapon back. Dodge behind the boss, and ideally not on the side the ram is on.
Sometimes, the boss will do this three times in a row. If you see the boss go for a second attack, just dodge further and further away to avoid any surprise hits. You can then either throw some grenades at it, or use your Charleville Musket if you followed our earlier advice while you’re out of melee range as it is menacingly swinging around.
Swipe: The boss uses its ram like a baseball bat, swinging from its left to its right side. You ideally should dodge behind it, slipping behind the right side of the boss to avoid any accidentla collision with the ram.
Red Exclamation Marks: The boss’ health bar will occasionally flash red exclamation marks at the top of the screen. This means a special move is coming and is a general rule of thumb for most monsters in the game. In this instance, the boss will jump in the air, slamming its ram on the floor, unleashing lightning around the boss for several seconds.
For this move, you will need to back away and let the move end. Once again, you can throw grenades at the boss, or use any ranged weapons against it to continue to damage it.
Outside of these moves, there’s not much else to watch for Simply just watch what it is doing, and adapt from that situation. Have fun!
