STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl

How to Increase Weight Limit

By
Matt Chard

As you explore and search The Zone in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, you’ll begin to fill your backpacks up with all sorts of useful and interesting items. However, you’ll soon realize that your backpack has a weight limit, leaving you to make the hard choice of what to take or what to leave. Fortunately, there are ways to increase your weight limit, so read on to find out how.

An overflowing inventory is a good way to get yourself killed in The Zone, as you’ll be rooted to the spot until you make some space.

Weight Limit Explained

The weight limit in Stalker 2 is a three-section bar with a total number at the end. On the bar, you have three sections, green, yellow, and red. If your weight limit is in the green section, you can run and jump with no restrictions. If you’re in the yellow section, you’ll run slower, not jump as high, and your stamina will deplete faster while regenerating slower. Finally, if you’re in the red section, you will be stuck where you stand and be a sitting duck for any bandit or mutant.

In general, the heaviest loot will be weapons and armor, which makes sense, but as you start filling up your packs, an abundance of bullets or food can take up a lot. For the most part, you’ll only want to keep 5 or 6 pieces of food, a few anti-radiation drinks (vodka), and a few stamina drinks. You can place the extras in your stash box back in town.

Increasing your Weight Limit

If you hate to leave anything behind like we do, there are ways to increase your weight limit, or at least reduce the weight of your gear, giving you more for other loot. To increase your weight limit, you’ll need to find specific artifacts with Weight (Weak) on them, such as the Goldfish Artifact, which gives you an extra 3 weight to your overall total. The better the artifact, the higher your weight limit will increase.

Another way to increase your weight limit is to find specific armor and upgrade them. For example, the Mercenary’s Light Suit can be upgraded to have a Load-Bearing Vest, which will increase your carrying capacity by 10%, while reducing the weight of the armor by 1. Finally, you can reduce the weight of your weapons with some upgrades reducing the weight of the weapon by 30%. You can upgrade your equipment at any Technician in the game, with the first one being Lens in Zalissya.

That’s it for the weight system in Stalker 2. To make your exploration easies, we recommend only bringing along one extra gun, so you have more space to pick up the loot you find. Finally, instead of picking up every weapon the bandits drop, simply unload their gun for their bullets, and leave the gun behind.
