Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

New Light Bowgun Silkbind Attacks and Switch Skills

By
Matt Chard

The Light Bowgun is one of 14 weapon types in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Guns in the series normally favor range over defense, and this is no different with the Light Bowgun. Versatility is the name of the game with this weapon. From rapid-fire barraging to inflicting a whole host of status ailments the Light Bowgun really can do it all. It’s worth noting that this weapon type is one of the highest in Rise’s speed run community. With Sunbreak, the Light Bowgun will obtain new Silkbind Attacks as well as new Switch Skills which will add even more depth to its already powerful arsenal.

The Light Bowgun is a versatile-ranged weapon that’s capable of dealing high damage while also peppering the monster with status ailments.

New Silkbind Attack: Wyvern Counter

The Wyvern Counter technique will give the Light Bowgun another way to avoid incoming damage. Wyvern Counter will fire a shot with enormous recoil that will make you retreat backwards. Although it does very little damage, if used during an incoming attack which includes Wyvern breath attacks, its true value will begin to shine.

New Switch Skill: Critical Firepower

This new technique gives the Light Bowgun a new shooting style. It’ll raise your damage output, but reduce your critical distance while also increasing your recoil. It appears that the new style wants you to play closer to the monster by rewarding you with more damage similar to the Close-Range Bow ammo. Furthermore, it’s worth noting that this technique will not work with specific ammo types.

Switch Skill Swap

This isn’t a new skill, but it is a new way to use them! The Switch Skill Swap will allow you to change your equipped skills whilst in battle. There will be two scrolls, one red, and one blue. By visiting an Item box either at the hub or in the tent during a quest, you can customize your favorite skills to each scroll.

The Switch Skill Swap system looks to reinvent the way Monster Hunter Rise is played.

When you’re in battle, you can swap between each set to give you access to your other skills. Another great addition to this system was the Swap Evade. This allows you to evade in any direction by pressing the roll button after you have swapped sets.
