New Insect Glaive Silkbind Attacks and Switch Skills

By
Matt Chard

The Insect Glaive is one of 14 weapon types in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. This is arguably the most unique weapon in the series. You get to command insects which go by the name of “Kinsects” to attack the monsters and absorb their essences. There are three essences to get, and they will buff you by giving you attack, movement speed, and defense. When these are active, you will even gain some new attacks. While your Kinsect is collecting these essences, you can use the Glaive to vault in the air, and attack monsters while airborne. With Sunbreak, the Insect Glaive will obtain new Silkbind Attacks as well as new Switch Skills which will add even more depth to its already powerful arsenal.

The Insect Glaive is an airborne weapon that can command an Insect to gather buffs, and make you stronger.

New Silkbind Attack: Awakened Kinsect Attack

This new technique for the Insect Glaive gives the weapon some much-needed burst damage. You can consume all the essences you have gained, and combine them into a single attack. When you use this skill, you can hurl the Kinsect towards any part of the monster to inflict major damage. Once the attack has been launched, you can use the Wirebug to close in on the monster. After reaching the monster, you will absorb essences while also marking the target, before you follow it up with a Vaulting Dance.

New Switch Skill: Kinsect Slash

The Kinsect Slash technique allows you to perform a midair thrust combining both Kinsect, and Glaive. When the attack connects, you’ll launch into a Vaulting Dance which will absorb an essence. Once you obtain the red essence, you won’t be able to extract any more essences, but you will be able to perform an Enhanced Insect Spiker as a trade-off.

Switch Skill Swap

This isn’t a new skill, but it is a new way to use them! The Switch Skill Swap will allow you to change your equipped skills whilst in battle. There will be two scrolls, one red, and one blue. By visiting an Item box either at the hub or in the tent during a quest, you can customize your favorite skills to each scroll.

The Switch Skill Swap system looks to reinvent the way Monster Hunter Rise is played.

When you’re in battle, you can swap between each set to give you access to your other skills. Another great addition to this system was the Swap Evade. This allows you to evade in any direction by pressing the roll button after you have swapped sets.
