This page offers a guide on how to defeat Talia al Ghul during Case 8.2 - The Lazarus Pit in Gotham Knights. This fight is split up into two phases with the later phase naturally being much harder than the first.
This page will detail how to beat Talia’s first phase, which begins after you defeat Batman - head over to our guide for more information on how to defeat batman.
All Talia al Ghul Attacks (Phase 1)¶
This section will detail all of Talia al Ghul’s attacks during the first phase. She wields a katana-like weapon and a bow. She will also occasionally use throwing knives when you’re not in melee range.
Fast Sword Attack¶
Talia’s strength comes from her sword fighting prowess. She is a master of fast sweeping sword attacks and spinning around so it can feel really tough to dodge her attacks. She attacks in quick succession and will jump and spin around slashing quickly.
If you get caught out by her blade, chances are you’ll get hit by a couple more hits and will leave you with a chunked health bar. During this fight you’ll need to be on high alert at all times! And in addition to her incredible agility she can also combine her attacks with teleporting!
The best time to get in an attack is after she’s done a spin attack and has briefly stopped with her sword out stretched. She recovers really quickly though so you may only get one or two hits in before she slides away or teleports away.
Teleporting¶
Like Batman in the previous fight, Talia can teleport around quickly and it’s indicated by the green mist. Talia is a much faster and more agile fighter than Batman was so you’ll need to really steer clear of the mist or be prepared to dodge as she pops out of the mist and lunges at you with her sword.
Charged Arrow Attack¶
Occasionally, either when you or Talia has disengaged, she will pause and draw her bow and arrow. She will take a few seconds to charge up a powerful bow and arrow. She has good aim and you’ll only be able to dodge it once she’s shot it. This is actually a good opportunity to close some distance between you and Talia and hit her with a heavy attack or two before she’s shot out her arrow.
When she’s in this stationary position, during this attack and her three shot attack (detailed below), you can take the opportunity to either deal a big momentum attack or get in some heavy attacks. Just be careful not to get hit by her powerful arrow attacks in the process!
Triple Arrow Attack¶
During this attack, Talia will aim three arrows towards you. Dodge right as they’re shot and avoid the ground where they land as they do three large circle areas of damage that’ll knock you prone. Luckily, these are easy to dodge and you could even try to get in some hits before she gets out her melee weapon!
Throwing Knives¶
Occasionally, when you’re not in melee combat ranged, Talia will throw out three knives in quick succession. They don’t do a lot of damage and they’re more annoying than anything.
How to Beat Talia al Ghul (Phase 1)¶
The final three fights (Batman, Talia phase 1 and Talia phase 2) can be tough because you need incredible sustain and perseverance to fight all three of these boss fights in a row. The Batman fight is certainly the easier of the three and you can probably do without healing all that much if you play it safe. The first Talia phase is definitely a step up and you may have to use up quite a few more health supplies to deal with her.
If you really struggle with these three fights, one of the best bits of advice we can offer to players who might have just sped through the main story and may be a tad bit under-levelled (Level 25 and under) is to perhaps return to these fights at a later date after levelling up. You can either do this via going out and patrolling the night for crimes, or you can do side quests. See our guides for how to start and complete the following side quests:
Levelling up will definitely help out with Talia’s toughness but you may also find it useful to employ some other useful strategies. For example, a suit with health regeneration abilities (Batgirl’s League Basic Suit) can help with sustain and means you won’t have to burn through your health supply.
You may also find it productive to use ranged attacks more frequently than engaging in melee combat. You can definitely try to get in some heavy melee attacks whenever you find the opportunity, but melee combat is where you risk getting hit with her most powerful attacks.
If you do choose to mostly hit Talia with ranged attacks then you do need to be prepared to deal with her teleporting constantly and closing the distance between the two of you. So even though you may want to focus on ranged attacks, you will still need to be hot on the dodge button!
This phase is quite a bit harder than Batman, but the second phase of the Talia fight is where it gets real tricky! Read our next page for a full breakdown of a guide on the second phase of the Talia boss fight!
