Gotham Knights

How to Earn the Protector of Gotham Achievement

By
Nathan Garvin

This page will provide details for earning the “Protector of Gotham” achievement in Gotham Knights.

Challenges reward you for completing various objectives, most of which you’ll complete naturally just by clearing crimes throughout Gotham City.

How to Earn the Protector of Gotham Achievement

To earn the Protector of Gotham achievement/trophy in Gotham Knights, you must “Complete 50 Challenges”, which may sound like a fair bit of work, but in Gotham Knights “challenges” are both numerous and usually pretty easy to complete.

Challenges come from various sources, including training tutorials, special objectives for unlocking some [Momentum Abilities], busywork required to advance some main case files and villain case files and most importantly (as far as this achievement is concerned) various NPC challenges. To check what challenges you have available, just go to the “Challenges” tab in the Batcomputer, where you’ll find challenges sorted by category.

While all challenges count towards this achievement, regardless the category, to hit the magic number of fifty you’ll need to repeatedly complete NPC challenges. These are given to you by Detective Montoya, Dr. Thompkins, Lucius Fox and The Penguin, as well as various members of The Watch. Advance the main questline until you reach Case 04 and most of these should become available to you - if you see an NPC’s icon on your map during a patrol, head on over there and talk to them. You’re likely either cashing in an old challenge or starting a new one.

The sort of busywork you’ll be required to complete for various NPC challenges is random, but almost all of it involves you going around Gotham City and stopping opportunistic crimes and premeditated crimes. Sometimes you’re tasked with completing a set number of crimes, stopping specific crimes (Criminal Deals, Witness Under Attack, Bomb Threat, etc), rescuing civilians, or, in the case of Lucius Fox, crafting different types of gear or fusing modchips.

Simply put, if you’re worried about having to actually accomplish any specific feat in order to complete a challenge, don’t be. Most challenges are just extra incentive for dealing with open world content around Gotham City, and we daresay you should be able to complete most or all of the fifty required challenges just by playing through the game normally. If this trophy hasn’t unlocked by the time you’ve reach the postgame, you’ll be free to continue patrolling Gotham City - simply check out what challenges you have available, talk to NPCs when they’re marked on the map, and keep clearing crimes (or just repeatedly craft whatever Lucius Fox wants for his challenges) until this achievement pops.

Failing that, you’ve got to play a good bit of New Game+ for the achievement [He’d Be So Proud of You], and you’re bound to complete more challenges there.
