This page will give strategies on how to defeat the Basher and Blazer boss fight in Harley’s second mission in Gotham Knights.
During Harley’s second mission, you will face off against some new enemies at the end of the mission. First, you will fight both a Basher and a Blazer one-on-one (or rather, with some normal enemies mixed in with them), then you will fight them together, in a special room. Note that your health packs will not be replenished between fights here, as they are all back-to-back, so you will want to try going into the second battle with as many as you can use, to make it easier on yourself. This page will focus on that second fight, since it’s definitely a challenging one.
How to Defeat Basher and Blazer¶
Before you get to the actual bosses themselves, you will have to go through some regular enemies first. You will also need to understand another mechanic of this boss fight, since it’s not a normal one. You will get dropped into a basement room by Harley during the end of the mission, where there will be a number of bombs planted around the room. After a certain period of time passes, a bomb will be armed, and you will have 30 seconds to disarm it. If the bomb goes off, then you will get a game over and have to start over from the beginning of the fight.
As already mentioned, you start off the fight with a bomb being armed and after you disarm it, some regular enemies will appear. During this portion, only a single bomb will go off, so you have some leeway in time before you need to disarm it. Once those normal enemies are gone, the Basher and Blazer will appear, and the real fight will begin. They will be accompanied by that one Freak with the knives, and more will appear at set points during the fight. Once the bosses appear, though, two bombs will be armed at the intervals, instead of just one, with you having still 30 seconds to disarm both.
The best thing to do is get rid of the adds, then concentrate on one of the two, and focus them down until they are defeated. The Blazer seems to be the more troublesome one, as some of his attacks are a bit harder to evade. There is one attack that the Blazer does that grabs you, bringing you close to him, then finishes it off with him throwing you. You also have a sweeping attack that appears to be a little difficult to dodge. If you managed to find armor that has fire resistance on it, that can definitely help, but it’s not a big problem if you didn’t.
For the Basher, he’s a bit like the Bulldozer enemy you’ve faced multiple times now, except he has a few more moves in his arsenal. First, he can toss molotov cocktails at you, like the Firestarters, but these are telegraphed quite a bit and should be easy to dodge. In fact, they’re so easy to dodge that you might want to see this more often, due to having an opening to attack yourself. The Basher also has the shield bash move that the Bulldozers use, but there could be some trickery, as the Basher can also pound the ground for a short-ranged shockwave with his running attack. If you see the Basher running, which you will, it’s probably best to dodge away from him at all times.
Don’t forget that they are both brute-like enemies, so Heavy Attacks will be able to stun them for a few seconds. Also, don’t forget to use your Momentum Abilities, too, as you will be getting a lot of use out of that in this battle. As mentioned before, it’s best to focus on a single one of these enemies until they go down, since this gives you a higher chance of survivability. Only having a single enemy makes it easier to concentrate, especially since you have to deal with disarming the bombs, too. It should be mentioned that once one of the two bosses is defeated, you will have to deal with three bombs per cycle. Once you take both enemies down and disarm any remaining active bombs, the battle will be over.
