Luring over the monsters so that your units aren’t isolated deep into enemy territory is likely the best way to go. Faceless are a new kind of enemy. They have high Strength but low Accuracy ( Fire Emblem: Awakening fans can liken them to Revenants). If they attack you, they will likely miss. But if they don’t, make sure you keep a healer on hand, like Jakob/Felicia.

By the third turn, two units will join your currently-tiny party. The first is Silas , a new character you haven’t yet seen. Alongside his ridiculous haircut is his horse, as he is your very first Cavalier! Compared to your foot units, Silas will have a large movement range, making him ideal for baiting the Faceless. Elise , whom you’ve already seen, is a member of the Nohrian royalty (and so can activate Dragon Veins). Like Silas, she is mounted on a horse as a Troubadour , and as you have seen, she cannot attack, but her worth as a healer is invaluable. Beware her thin defenses, however!

The turn after Silas and Elise join you, more allies will appear: Elise’s retainers! All members of royalty have two retainers who serve and protect them. Elise’s two retainers are Arthur and Effie . Arthur is a beefy, all-American Fighter. He will be very powerful with high defense, but has absurdly terrible Luck and rather shaky accuracy to go along with it, so be careful. Effie is a perpetually hungry Knight. She is slow and has lower movement range, but her high defense is a great way to plug up the Faceless and protect your more vulnerable units.

With Effie and Arthur here to give you more defense, try to use bottlenecks to your advantage by plugging them up with a bulky unit. If your allies take damage, however small, or level up and gain 1 point of health, use Elise or Jakob to heal. Elise in particular cannot fight, so her only way of leveling up is to heal. Use her stave generously, you can always buy more. It’ll keep your units in tip-top shape and she will level up rapidly!

Once you have completed this chapter, Paralogue 1 will open up. It gives you access to a new character and will be a great source of experience. You could always use more characters, especially now, so why don’t you go ahead and complete it? The Paralogue section of this walkthrough details all of the Nohrian Paralogues!
