The Basara is a very odd combination of different types of skills and weapons. Like the Oni Chieftain, the Basara allows proficiency in magic and melee. Most characters, however, do not have such dual specializations with very rare exceptions (i.e. the Avatar), meaning it’s sort of wasted. But still, not a bad concept.

The Basara’s skills are, however, very strong, and worth grabbing. Rend Heaven in particular is an easy skill to get, being the first skill they learn at level 5, and has an extremely high activation rate. The only time it’ll let you down is if you’re using a physical weapon and the enemy is using a magic weapon and vice versa, since chances are an enemy Sorcerer/Onmyoji has a Strength stat of 0. But otherwise, it’s a really easy way to augment your damage. Quixotic is kind of similar to Life or Death, affecting hit rate and skill activation rate, and it doesn’t hurt you at all. If the enemies you are fighting don’t have many skills worth worrying over, Quixotic will benefit you more than hurt you…but it will make the enemies more accurate!

Oh and also Basara’s costume has cute tiger stripes.
