As you progress through Dead Space Remake, you may be lucky enough to stumble across a weapon upgrade. These upgrades were added with the Remake and can offer a whole host of various abilities that add something different to each weapon such as adding the burn effect to the Plasma Cutter. There are three upgrades per weapon and this page will guide you to where to find every one of them.
The Plasma Cutter has three weapon upgrades to find in Dead Space Remake.
Where to Find the Heat Accumulator Weapon Upgrade¶
This will most likely be the first weapon upgrade you’ll get. This can be purchased from the Store for 11,000 credits. As this kind of cash is hard to come by in the early game you’ll need to keep your eye out for the Conductor items scattered across the Ishimura. These are most often found in lockers or containers in the smaller side rooms which are often locked.
Once you acquire this upgrade it will unlock the SP1 node which can be found in the top center of the upgrade panel. The Heat Accumulator will apply a burn to your ammo which will cause damage over time.
The Heat Accumulator weapon upgrade can be purchased from the Store for 11,000 credits.
Where to Find the Cartridge Rack Weapon Upgrade¶
The Cartridge Rack can be found on a chair inside the Ishimura Clinic on the Medical Deck. You’ll need to be on at least Chapter 2, and have completed the “Destroy the Barricade” objective to get access to the Ishimura Clinic. Inside the room, there’ll be some chairs at the back with graffiti above them displaying “It’s Time”. The weapon upgrade will be directly underneath the text, on the chair.
Once you acquire this upgrade it will unlock the SP2 node which can be found in the far right of the upgrade panel. Obtaining the Cartridge Rack weapon upgrade will greatly increase the capacity of ammo you can hold in the Plasma Cutter with 23 Energy Shots-per Magazine.

Where to Find the Weighted Blades Weapon Upgrade¶
This is an intriguing upgrade. The Weighted Blades will make it so that when you use a melee attack with the Plasma Gun equipped, you’ll have a chance to knock down enemies to the floor. This works all the time on regular enemies and is great to get out of a tight space when cornered by enemies.
You can acquire the Weighted Blades upgrade from a chair in the Maintenance Locker Room in the Communications Hub which you’ll visit during Chapter 8. The Maintenance Locker Room is at the end of the first floor of the Communication Hub, and you’ll have to come to this area to “Deploy the Antenna”. Once you acquire the upgrade, it will unlock the SP3 node near the bottom center of the upgrade panel.
