Dead Space Remake

Best Weapons in Dead Space Remake - Tier List

By
Matt Chard

In Dead Space Remake you will be pitted against numerous Necromorphs that have one goal in mind, to kill you. Fortunately, there are plenty of weapons to help you survive these nightmarish creatures on the Ishimura, but what weapons are the best? Below, you’ll find a list of all the weapons in Dead Space Remake, where to get them, and where we rank them in terms of effectiveness.

A Tier List for all weapons in Dead Space Remake.

Dead Space Remake Tier List

Tier Weapons Notes
s_tier.png Plasma Cutter, Contact Beam Plasma Cutter has precision, power, and large mags. Contact Beam has one-shot potential with its alternate fire.
a_tier1.png Force Gun, Ripper Best gun in the game for area of effect. Would be placed higher, but its alternate fire, which is its best attribute is situational. Ripper is placed so high because its alternate fire can stagger enemies until they die. You could move this to B.
b_tier1.png Line Gun Good gun that is let down by its lackluster alternate fire. The traps can be good in choke points, but they will damage you if you happen to touch them.
c_tier1.png Flamethrower This would be higher if enemies would die quicker to burning. It is the best gun to deal with the Pregnant enemies or little critters in general.
d_tier1.png Pulse Rifle This isn’t a bad gun per se, but the alternatives are better in every way. Its alternate fire, proximity mines have one-shot potential, but other than that, you’re better off using other weapons.

There you have it, if you disagree with this tier list, leave a comment below and let us know what you think are the best weapons in Dead Space Remake.

Plasma Cutter

High-energy precision mineral cutter.

The Plasma Cutter has two types of fire. One will shoot horizontally while the other will shoot vertically. This allows you to be more accurate when attempting to detach the Necromorphs from their limbs. Due to the accuracy of this weapon, you can use it at medium to long range with no problems. When it’s fully upgraded, you can kill most enemies in a couple of well-placed shots.

Plasma Cutter Stats

DMG (Damage) CAP (Capacity) REL (Reload Time)
Base 40 Pts 50 2.17s
Upgraded 75 Pts 160 1.30s

(1 of 2) The Plasma Cutter’s Vertical Beam is useful for cutting enemies arms off.

Contact Beam

Heavy damage energy projector.

A powerhouse of a weapon. When fully upgraded, the alternate fire can one-shot most enemies in the game. You charge it up and release a ball of contact energy at your victims. Its primary fire is also pretty good for multiple enemies in close proximity.

Contact Beam Stats

PFD (Primary Fire Damage) SFD (Secondary Fire Damage) CAP (Capacity) REL (Reload Time)
Base 75 Pts 400 Pts 12 3.0s
Upgraded 150 Pts 1,000 Pts 25 2.11s

(1 of 2) The Contact Beam’s Primary Fire fires a continuous beam of energy.

Force Gun

Short range kinetic booster device.

Another really strong weapon that would be placed higher if there were more groups of enemies. Run around the room to get the enemies near each other and unleash a gravity well (alternate fire) to lock them in place. Then you have a few options to choose from: use Stasis to keep them there longer, switch to a different weapon to kill them, or use the primary fire on the group to take them down, but this feels like a waste of ammo.

Force Gun Stats

DMG (Damage) CAP (Capacity) REL (Reload Time) ROF (Rate of Fire)
Base 100 Pts 5 2.5s 60 RPM
Upgraded 170 Pts 12 1.75s 96 RPM

(1 of 2) The Force Gun’s Primary Fire will unleash a burst of force at the enemies.

Ripper

Remote industrial saw.

This is a divisive weapon, but we liked it. Its primary fire isn’t useless; there are better weapons to kill the enemies from distance. The alternate fire on the other hand allows you to have a spinning blade in front of you and as the enemies are aggressive in this game, they will walk into it, and get staggered repeatedly until they die. This could be moved to B Tier, but we really like the alternate fire, and the gun is cost-effective.

Ripper Stats

DMG (Damage) CAP (Capacity) REL (Reload Time) DUR (Duration)
Base 40 Pts 8 2.17s 7.0s
Upgraded 110 Pts 15 1.52s 10.0s

(1 of 2) The Ripper Blade’s Primary Fire will fire a blade out of the gun.

Line Gun

A standard Line Gun used for cutting wide slabs of ore.

This is another divisive weapon, but its primary fire feels like a worse Plasma Cutter. It has less precision but has traps to make up for it. You can place these traps (lasers) on the floor which if placed in a choke point can be great, but these will also damage you if you touch them.

Line Gun Stats

DMG (Damage) CAP (Capacity) REL (Reload Time) SPD (Projectile Speed) ROF (Rate of Fire)
Base 150 Pts 5 2.5s 50 m/s 150 RPM
Upgraded 300 Pts 11 1.75s 70 m/s 225 RPM

(1 of 2) The Line Gun’s Primary Fire will shoot out a horizontal line of energy.

Flamethrower

Hydrazine industrial torch.

For what it does, it does well. This is easily the best gun to take out the Pregnant enemies while also being great for the smaller enemies too. It’s let down due to the burn being a damage over time which in this game isn’t something you particularly want, and the Pregnant enemies are too few and far in between.

Flamethrower Stats

DMG (Damage) CAP (Capacity) REL (Reload Time) DUR (Duration)
Base 65 Pts 50 2.17s 5.0s
Upgraded 90 Pts 110 1.52s 9.0s

(1 of 2) The Flamethrower’s Primary Fire will continuously spray out fire.

Pulse Rifle

Military-grade assault rifle with a high rate of fire.

The runt of the litter. This isn’t a bad gun, it’s just bad compared to the rest. In a game where there aren’t a lot of enemies that take extra damage from headshots, it leaves the primary fire found wanting. Its alternate fire (proximity mines) does have one-shot potential, especially if you use it like a grenade launcher. It’s decent for the early game but drops off quickly when you get access to the better weapons.

Pulse Rifle Stats

DMG (Damage) CAP (Capacity) REL (Reload Time) ROF (Rate of Fire)
Base 100 Pts 10 1.67s 150 RPM
Upgraded 200 Pts 23 1.10s 225 RPM

(1 of 2) The Pulse Rifle’s Primary Fire is your traditional rifle gunfire.
