The second of Avarax’s three missions, it’s the first mission where you’ll encounter a new type of foe and the only Campaign mission in the game with two Dataslates. This doesn’t mean the mission is short, however, and you’ll save yourself some bother by using this page to find the two Dataslates in Servant of the Machine in Space Marine 2!

Servant of the Machine Dataslates¶
The quest starts out normal enough - fight through Tyranids, assist some Astra Militarum troopers, and defeat a boss. The boss you’ll fight in this mission is a [Neurothrope], which happens to be the final Tyranid boss in the campaign. Slaughter a few more Tyranids and you’ll move on to the second half of this mission, where a new foe will rear its heretical head. There are only two Dataslates in this mission, one after taking an elevator shortly before the Neurothrope fight and the second immediately following a rare sniping segment where you have to cover Chairon, who is afflicted with a fit of righteous fury.

Dataslate 01: Cannon Maintenance, 1.002.81¶
From the start of the level, proceed until you have to assist some Astra Militarum troops in dispatching some waves of Tyranid. Afterwards you’ll be checkpointed ahead. Enter a building, defeat a Ravener, then ride up an elevator. When the elevator reaches its destination, exit and turn left, then circle around to the back of the elevator (keep going left) to find this Dataslate on the ground near a corpse.
This can be found before you fight the Neurothrope - if you drop down a pit to the room that leads to the Neurothrope fight, you’ll have to restart the mission to find this.
Fight through waves of Tyranids until you find an elevator, then search behind the elevator after riding it up to find the first Dataslate.
Dataslate 02: Tithe Collection, Avaras¶
Defeat the [Neurothrope] boss and slog through a few more Tyranid encounters to trigger a scene where the Thousand Sons enemies make their debut. Clear the first encounter with the Thousand Sons, then advance until Chairon loses his cool and decides to go on a one man rampage, forcing you to cover him from afar. Clear the Heretic Astartes and their minions, destroy an altar to clear the way, resupply, then fight your way across the bridge. This is one of the few sniping segments in the Campaign, so enjoy yourself and pick off the Thousand Sons attacking Chairon.
After all the Thousand Sons are defeated you’ll get a scene where you reunite with Chairon, following which you’ll be checkpointed to the last set piece of the mission. From where you appear, head down a slope and note the stairs to the left. Ignore them and continue forward through some rubble. Search to the left to find a Dataslate on a crate near a corpse - can’t have a Dataslate without a corpse!
Reunite with Chairon after he goes berserk and search for the second Dataslate just off the beaten path.
