Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Skyfire Mission Dataslates Space Marine 2

By
Nathan Garvin

Dataslates are the obligatory collectibles in Space Marine 2, glowing green tablets containing audio recordings for you lore-lovers out there. There are twenty-three of these devices in the campaign and more in the game’s six launch Operations maps, all of which are required to unlock the Data Mining achievement. This page will provide the locations of every Dataslate in the first campaign mission, Skyfire.

Page Breakdown

Skyfire Dataslates

Despite being the first mission in the game, Dataslates in Skyfire are just as tricky to find here as in any other mission. There are four Dataslates in this mission, two in the swamps and two after reaching the Planetary Defense Base. Interestingly enough, they follow a pattern, with one Dataslate being at the beginning of the area, and another at the end.

Dataslate 01: Stormtalon Crash, Kadaku

At the start of the mission you’ll need to assist the Astra Militarum in fending off some Tyranids until an airstrike can commence. Once this section is over you’ll be transported into a swap to continue your mission. From where you spawn head forward past a drop pod full of weapons, under a tree archway, past which you’ll find a fork. Turn left past some explosive flowers and you’ll find an abandoned supply cache. This dataslate is on top of a crate.

After you reach the swamp, note some flowers to the left, (left), beyond which you’ll find the Dataslate “Stormtalon Crash, Kadaku” on a crate. (right)

Dataslate 02: Admission of Desertion

Progress through the swamp until you reach a ruined bridge.Tyranids will attack from the far side and to progress you need to drop off the bridge and ascend a hill. Follow the muddy road as it switchbacks up uphill and when you reach the top you’ll be at a fork. If you go left you’ll reach another Astra Militarum base where you need to hold out against swarms of Tyranids until some sealed doors open. Do not go there yet, however, as that will checkpoint you past this Dataslate.

Instead at the fork turn right to reach the other side of the ruined bridge from whence the Tyranids attacked earlier. Near the bridge is a tower, and beside the tower is a ledge you can drop down. Do so and you’ll find this Dataslate near a corpse next to some tree roots.

Drop down a ledge near a tower and search near a corpse to find the Dataslate “Admission of Desertion”.

Dataslate 03: Anti-Tyranid Offensive, Kadaku

Reach the Planetary Defense Base after surviving the holdout objective until the doors are open. Once inside, enter the large chamber full of corpses, head upstairs and access a terminal to open another set of sealed doors. Follow the hallway beyond left, then right, and when you reach a fork go straight and head upstairs. Once atop the stairs the Dataslate is straight ahead, under the leg of a dead guardsman, near a Combat Knife pickup.

Once inside the Planetary Defense Base, head up some stairs to find the Dataslate “Anti-Tyranid Offensive, Kadaku”.

Dataslate 04: Desired Purgation of Data

After exiting the Planetary Defense Base you’ll start a segment where you’ll need to escort some Cadians, including a Leman Russ tank. After this you’ll get a scene with Major Sarkaana where you’ll get a new objective - reach the Orbital Guns Facility and manually reactivate the targeting system. Exit the facility again and fend off more Tyranids, eventually crossing a bridge to reach an elevator which will take you to the aforementioned orbital guns. Before you take the elevator up, head around the elevator to find a dead Tech-Priest near a console. The Dataslate is on the ground next to the aforementioned corpse - there’s also a Plasma Pistol on the ground nearby.

Reach the elevator leading up to the Orbital Guns Facility and search near the corpse of a tech-priest to find the Dataslate “Desired Purgation of Data”.
