Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

World 5-2: Tricky Trapeze Theater

By
Jarrod Garripoli

You’ve seen trapeze acts from the circus, where they swing back and forth, which is what you will see in this level. A Cat Suit can be handy here, especially for some of the collectibles, so it’s a good idea to bring one along. Take the gondola at the start over to the theater walls, and use the tilting platform to hit the trapeze, making a swing to the next ledge. From here, jump to another trapeze over to a tilting platform, which has a spiked roller on it. Time your jump to the next trapeze, but you will want to jump to the left, as there are invisible cloud platforms there, allowing you to reach Green Star #1. You can also use the Cat Suit to reach this, but it’s not necessary.

(1 of 2) The first Green Star is above the first seesaw with a spiked roller

The first Green Star is above the first seesaw with a spiked roller (left), Head through this pipe and finish the bonus room to get the second Green Star (right)

Swing over to the next gondola that takes you to the Checkpoint Flag. The rotating platforms ahead have plenty of Piranha Plants, but the ?-Block in the center holds a Mega Mushroom, the perfect item for clearing the entire platform. It’s not necessary to clear all of the enemies here, but you do get some extra coins if you do. Once you’ve cleared it, head right across some Donut Blocks to a pipe. Hit the P-Switch to spawn Blue Coins that need to collected within the time limit. If you make it, then you’ll receive Green Star #2 and can return to the rotating platform.

Use a trampoline on one of the outer rotating platforms to bounce up to the next area, then turn left to spot the Stamp for an easy grab. Ahead is a series of trapezes that you’ll need to be quick with, since the Green Star Ring will be triggered here and all the coins will require precision and speed to collect Green Star #3. If you fall at all, you will likely not make it in time to collect all of the coins, meaning you will have to replay the level.

(1 of 2) It’s hard to miss the Stamp right after the rotating platforms

It’s hard to miss the Stamp right after the rotating platforms (left), You need to use the trapeze swings to collect the coins and the third Green Star (right)

Just past the trapezes with the last Green Star will be a gondola that takes you to the Goal Pole area. The end is easy to cap with the Cat Suit or Tanooki Suit, so use one of them to receive your golden flag for topping the Goal Pole. Alternatively, get a full swing on the trapeze and do a mid-air roll to hit the top of the pole.
