Description

When brute force is required, the Hammer is more than willing to take up the job. This close-quarters weapon deals powerful hits, but is rather slow and offers zero defensive capabilities. However, between its powerful charged attacks and ability to dizzy monsters, those flaws won’t be too noticeable.

Usage Tips

Bring the Juice, and the Meat : As with Dual Blades, Dash Juice and Cooked Meat are two vital items for a hammer player due to the weapon’s reliance on stamina. Dash will ensure a period of uninterrupted charging through unlimited stamina, while Meat will keep your stamina bar longer for when the Juice runs out.

R + X + A : Any hammer player worth their salt knows how to draw the weapon into its charging state. Get this button combination in your head and use it, often. You’ll want to holster the weapon to dodge most effectively and drawing it in this manner is the quickest way to get on the offense.

See Attack, See Weapon : The opportune time to draw the hammer is on the successful avoidance of an enemy attack. As soon as you’re safe grab the hammer into your charge and head towards your foe with an eye to landing a standing level three attack.

Head Banging : Unlike other weapons the Hammer, as with its Impact brethren, can dizzy an enemy through knocks delivered to their noggin. This makes attacks to the head a far more compelling pursuit, and one that comes recommended.

In multiplayer this will also see you attacking a spot that blade players will likely ignore. Just remember to dodge roll on a successful hit, no need to stay in the danger zone.

Recommended Skills

A great skill to have for any Hammer user is Marathon Runner as it reduces the drain on your stamina bar.

Speaking of stamina, something like Stam Recov Up is a worthwhile skill as it will top your bar up quicker.

Knockout King will improve the rate with which you can knock monsters out, if that’s your sort of thing.

A Focus skill reduces the amount of time it takes for your hammer to charge, and can improve your attack speed greatly.
