Description

The Barroth is a large wyvern native to the Sandy Plains. By swimming around in the mud, it can create a layer of “mud armour”, used to protect itself from attacks. Its key attacks include ramming with its giant head and violently shaking mud off its back.

Key Attacks

Charge : The Barroth puts its head down and then rampages towards the player. It’s important to keep moving as the attack starts as the Barroth will aim for the player at the start of the charge, not when it lowers its head.

Mud Toss : The Barroth shakes its head and throws rocks all around it (they seem to aim for the player if they stand still). These rocks inflict Muddy on the player.

Tail Swipe : The Barroth swings its tail around itself in a clockwise motion to roughly 180 degrees. This attack may be repeated several times.

Head Slam : The Barroth slams its head into the ground, throwing mud clumps in front of it that can inflict Muddy.

Rock Hurl : The Barroth digs its head into the ground and then hurls a single boulder at the hunter.

Recommended Strategy

The Barroth is a Wyvern and as such, his legs will be the optimal area of attack for the majority of weapons. This also moves you away from the beast’s head, his primary method of attack.

This said, it’s vitally important that you make special note to watch out for the Barroth’s shake ability as being inflicted with Muddy can lead to being caught in a more damaging attack if you haven’t packed Cleansers.

The Barroth receives a huge boost to his attack capabilities upon becoming enraged so you must go on the back foot when you see his head steaming. He gets fast and lethal, his charge attack in particular, so make attacks more fleeting at this point and let the beast calm down before going back on the offensive.

Oh and one other thing, after a Barroth’s charge his tail will swing around behing him, damaging anyone in its way. Bear this in mind when moving in for some attacks post-charge.
