Don’t hunt by yourself! Approximately 66.5% of the fun in Monster Hunter comes from playing with others, be they strangers or friends! And yes, this definitely came from a very defined experiment to see how much fun i was and it is totally more fun when there’s a team of four working together to bring down a big, bad monster.
To get to online, tap the Gathering Hall icon on the World Map. It is near the center. Then press Change Onine Status , and you have two options, Local Play and Online Play. If you are playing with friends in real life, select Local Play. But if you are going to be hunting with randoms or with your friends from afar, jump into Online Play. Once you have successfully connected, you can Create a Room or Search for a Room.
Creating a Room is fairly simple. Toggle the options and messages, and if you are hunting with friends only, set the message to “Hunting with friends!” and set a passcode so only you and your friends will be in the room. If you are searching for a room, you can search using conditions like Hunter Rank, target, quest type, location, etc. Then a small pool of options will come up. You can refresh and run the search again if none of the rooms cut it.
If you have a lot of friends on your friends list who play Monster Hunter, you can jump directly into their rooms by tapping Friend List . It will show you who on your friends list is online and playing!
Once in a room, you have access to a keyboard for chat, and a few “hot phrases”, such as greetings, thank yous, apologies, and short messages for during the hunt related to things like setting down bombs and traps, etc. Change equipment by tapping on the World Map, going to any village, and selecting Your House. Then select Gathering Hall and tap Gathering Hall again to return to the room. You will not be disconnected.
