Monster Hunter, being as egregios as it is in Japanese culture, is often a target for franchises to form collaborations with. As a result, Capcom will release weekly or monthly new special event quests that give special gear and weapons themed after the particular collaborations. Most of these will never see the light of the west because of copyright reasons, or are altered entirely but with the same stats and numbers. But the few that do can give very unique, and sometimes even funky, equipment that is oftentimes worth your while to forge.
Other event quests allow you to fight monsters in specific ranks that are not available in game. The particular monsters that you will need event quests to access are G Rank Gold Rathian, Silver Rathalos, White Fatalis, and Dalamandur , to name a few. Without these event quests, you cannot upgrade many weapons to their final form.
Now before you worry about having to spend your hard-earned money on quests that are mandatory to even fill out your equipment box, Monster Hunter DLC is free! That’s right! They are merely add-ons for new, fun content and will not cost you even a penny.
In Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Capcom releases DLC monthly. The DLC will never go away and is permanently available until the servers decide to get taken down. So if you don’t get Internet for a month or two, don’t worry. The DLC will still be waiting for you when you return.
To access DLC, talk to your housekeeper. Then from there, you will be prompted to connect to the Internet. After that, have fun browsing and downloading everything! In addition to event quests, DLC will also have valuable gift packages, free Palicos, and new customizations for your Guild Card.
