Usage Tips
There are several ways to use the Great Sword. The first way is to roll in, do an unsheathing attack, hit a few more times, then roll out, sheathe the weapon, and repeat. Level 3 charges are reserved for when the monster is fallen over and other large openings. Another style of play with the Great Sword utilizes knowledge of the monster and extremely precise timing to use level 3 charges even as the monster is moving to catch it in the middle of an attack. It is potent, and is pretty awesome when you smash that Rathalos out of the air, but punishes you hard when you miss.
If the monster goes to sleep, wake it up with a level 3 charge that will do triple the damage!
Recommended Skills
Evasion+1/+2 and/or Evade Distance Up are great for when you’re rolling around to position yourself. Focus is almost necessary to speed up level 3 charge time for faster attacking, and Critical Draw is great for if you unsheathe your weapon and go directly into a charge for added power.
