Expeditions in the Everwood are a completely new mechanic introduced in Monster Hunter 4 . They are basically the rough equivalent to freehunting. Conditions within the Everwood change day by day, so if you don’t like what’s going on, do a quest and then look again on the World Map. The Everwood is marked by a circle colored based on the rank. For example, Red Circle corresponds to the High Rank Everwood.
Here’s a rundown of how to make sense of the conditions presented when checking out the Everwood on the World Map:
Monsters: Tells you what monsters will appear first
Environment: An unstable environment means more monsters can appear that are not listed
Treasure Area: Will tell you if there is an area or not where you can gather rare Relics, nectars, and the also rare Cathangea Seed
Wild Palicos: Indicates if a wild Palico will be present in the Everwood that you can recruit or not
Poogie: Indicates if a Poogie is in the Everwood you can rescue and the earn a free Poogie costume out of
Equipment Bias: Shows what kinds of equipment you will get from the Relics you find here
When you’re ready to head out, eat and then go!
