If you take a look at the Insect Glaive, you’ll probably notice that it operates quite differently from other weapons. First off, there are no upgrade trees, simply straight upgrade paths. And second, you can’t even upgrade your weapon! First you have to…level up your Kinsect?! What is this?
Don’t worry, this section of the guide will help you. Kinsects have to be levelled up along with your weapon, and their evolutionary paths can branch and are kept separate from the Insect Glaive route. Every Kinsect, depending on whether it is Blunt or Cutting (determines what kind of damage it does), will have a set upgrade path. So two different Insect Glaives with the same kind of Kinsect will have the exact same upgrade path for the Kinsect!
However, your Kinsect is a living animal, and cannot evolve without being fed precious Nectars. You will want to make sure you feed your Kinsect only the top tier of Nectars, because your Kinsect can only take a certain amount before it is full and ready to evolve. You can effectively permanently mess up an Insect Glaive. Nectars will give stat points to Power, Stamina and Speed. Only use Nectars that give two points to their respective areas, to maximize stat growth. Also, feed Nectars that boost one stat will lower another, so be careful with the order you feed. Once you have maxed out the Nectar bar, your Kinsect is ready to evolve. After a certain number of evolutions of your Kinsect, your Insect Glaive will also upgrade! This is covered in the next section.
