What Makes Apocalypse Gear Special?¶

By now, you’ve probably read and seen about the new Apocalypse Tier system in Outriders Worldslayer. Beyond all of the other benefits you can obtain by playing on a higher tier, the one that applies to this page is the boost to Apocalypse gear Drops.

So, what is Apocalypse gear you may wonder? Apocalypse gear is a modifier to both Epic and Legendary equipment that not only boosts their stats but adds an elusive third Mod slot. This makes these pieces of equipment rather special indeed, especially if you’re fortunate enough to obtain Apocalypse Legendary gear.

There is, however, a catch with Apocalypse gear. The third Mod slot is often powerful, but you can never change it so you’re stuck with whatever the gear is rolled with. The good news is, you can keep trying for the same Legendary in the hopes you’ll find it as an Apocalypse gear again but with a different Mod slot.

Can you Upgrade Apocalypse Gear?¶

The answer to this is a resounding yes, you can upgrade the Apocalypse gear that you come across while playing Outriders Worldslayer. With the release of Worldslayer comes a new resource for you to gather, Anomaly Extracts, and these are needed to upgrade your Apocalypse gear. These resources can be obtained in two ways, the first is to break down your unwanted Apocalypse gear, this will refund you some Anomaly Extracts and the higher the Apocalypse Tier you play on, the greater the chance of obtaining more gear to break down.

The alternative method is simply by taking down Elites, and you’ll notice that there are plenty of Elites for you to kill in the Worldslayer campaign, especially on higher Apocalypse Tiers. Once you reach the Trial of Tarya Gratar Endgame, you’ll be facing plenty of Elites at once which will allow you to stockpile this new resource quickly.

Where to Get Apocalypse Gear¶

There is no one answer to this question, as your access to Apocalypse gear will be boosted the higher the Apocalypse Tier you play on. As a general rule however, Epic Apocalypse gear can drop from Elites and rarely in chests while playing through the Worldslayer campaign. Legendary Apocalypse gear is even rarer during the main campaign, but we have had success at getting one rarely from an Elite.

More importantly, you’ll do most of your farming for Apocalypse gear once you reach the Trial of Tarya Gratar. Here is where you’ll fight many Elites and bosses and you’ll get the greatest chance yet as you surge through the Apocalypse Tiers to really build out your collection and seek that ever elusive god roll.
