Exo abilities are new in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. These replace your usual Tactical Grenade button and have different effects. Some of them are really nice while others are somewhat useless. Let’s get started.

Exo Shield

Description: Quickly deploy a portable shield attacked to your arm.

Notes: You can consider the Exo Shield as a Riot Shield from previous Call of Duty games, only that here it takes place as an ability so you can still bring your complete loadout.

Exo Overclock

Description: Gain a temporary speed boost.

Notes: Just like the description says, you move faster when the ability is in use.

Exo Mute Device

Description: Silence your footsteps.

Notes: Works like Dead Silence and Ninja from previous games. Your footsteps are silent so your enemies can’t hear you coming. Useful for sneak attacks.

Exo Stim

Description: Temporarily generate health beyond normal levels.

Notes: After a gunfight, this ability allows you to heal back to normal faster. Useful for encounters with multiple enemies. You can also sustain more damage when in a gunfight.

Exo Cloak

Description: Visually conceal yourself for a short duration.

Notes: Really helpful to get to another point where there are many enemies. Note that enemies can still see you, only that you appear transparent and they can still hear you. You can’t shoot either. Once you shoot, you’ll reveal your position.

Exo Hover

Description: Hover in place for a short duration.

Notes: This is a neat ability that allows you to hover around while shooting people.

Exo Ping

Description: Show enemy Exo movement and weapons fire in your HUD.

Notes: Exo Ping is really cool because it’s like a Threat Grenade. Paints the enemies in your HUD and you can see them each time the enemies shoot or use an Exo ability. The only bad thing is that it lasts for a really short time. Use this when playing objective games like Capture the Flag or Domination.
