Mudcrawler Fish Locations - Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Cooking is a big part of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, as you need food to keep your energy maxed out to help with healing. You will find many ingredients throughout your adventure from various sources, like hunting down animals, fishing and even gathering plants. One of types of fish you can get is called the Mudcrawler Fish, which is found throughout the world. However, getting the rarer variants can be a bit troublesome. This page will detail where to find the Mudcrawler Fish, as well as how to get the Superior and Exquisite versions.

The Mudcrawler is one of many types of fish you can find in the game.

Where to Find Mudcrawler Fish in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Being an aquatic animal, the Mudcrawler Fish is naturally found in bodies of water. The in-game Hunter’s Guide mentions that you will find them most commonly near water moon lilies, which are nothing but the green lily pads. If you’re in Kinglor Forest, two good spots for this fish are Wisdom Lake and Tangled Lake. The latter is right underneath the Woodsprite Arches, while the former will be to the west of the Tangled Lake. Mudcrawler Fish seem to be swimming around these spots, so use your Na’vi Sense to locate any fish.

Mudcrawler Fish Uses

Mudcrawler Fish is a cooking ingredient, so you can use it in a variety of dishes. Additionally, you will need a Superior or Exquisite version for the Relun’s Fish Stew recipe, which is required for one of the Aranahe Community Contributions quests, at the Wetwood Nest Na’vi camp.

Where to Find Superior/Exquisite Mudcrawler Fish

Since you need one of the two rarer variants of the Mudcrawler Fish for that dish above, you may be wondering where to find those. The in-game description mentions they are often found in deep water, but thorough searching of the deepest waters in Kinglor Forest turned up nothing. However, there is an alternative to this, which is Fishing Spots.

Where to Find Fishing Spots in Avatar

While exploring the various waters in the game, you will notice circular ripples along the surface. These will indicate that there’s a fishing spot there and using your Na’vi Sense will show a bunch of fish swimming in a circle. First and foremost, don’t bother trying to aim at a specific fish, as that isn’t how this works (you also can’t see individual fish with your sense). Instead, aim at the ripples with your bow (or spear) and wait until the reticle turns red. That will be your cue to let loose with an attack, which should net you a fish.

There are two problems with this, though, with one being that the fish you receive are random. The other problem is that fishing spots don’t have static entries on the map, so they are also random. However, this is still the best way to get the Superior/Exquisite version of the Mudcrawler, so keep trying until you do.
