All Windswept Kites Locations - Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Pandora is a huge world and there are many things to gather, such as resources, equipment and yes, even collectibles. One of the many collectibles you will find in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is Windswept Kites. You will gain access to these once you enter the Upper Plains and they are all found in the Mother of Rivers and Shattered Bridge areas. However, they don’t show up on your in-game map at all, so you’re kind of left in the dark a little bit. There are a total of 9 Windswept Kites in the game and this page will list the locations of them all.

Windswept Kites are one of the collectibles in the game.

How to Collect Windswept Kites

Before you go and hunt down these kites, you will want to finish The Wandering Clan main story quest. This will unlock some side quests in The Circle, Zeswa’s home, one of which will be The Wind Will Carry Us. Fa’zak has thrown away a bunch of kites after losing her mate, but she realized that wasn’t a good choice and wants to recover them all. Luckily, there are only 9 Windswept Kites and they’re all located in the Shattered Bridge and Mother of Rivers areas.

However, they are not marked on the map, so finding them is kind of a shot in the dark. If you have The Wind Will Carry Us as your active quest, though, then you will see it update whenever you are close to one of the kites. Once you find a kite, you don’t have to do anything special to actually get it, since you can go right up to the thing and grab it like any other item. There are a number of kites that will require you to use your Ikran to get to them, though, since they are at higher elevations.

Windswept Kite - Transforming Kite

(1 of 2) The location of the Transforming Kite on the map.

The location of the Transforming Kite on the map. (left), It will be on top of some rocks on top of the First Zakru. (right)

The first kite on this list can be found in the northern part of the Mother of Rivers area. Specifically, you want to go to the First Zakru section, which is a large rock formation up there. You’ll need your Ikran here, as you want to fly to the top of the rock formation, towards the middle portion. You can see what looks like a bridge connecting the larger section to the smaller one on the right. You will be going to the western half.

As you land on top of the rock formation, start heading east and you will see some stacked rocks, right before the ground dips down. The kite will be on that rock, so just jump up to it and grab it when you see the button prompt.

Windswept Kite - Storm Kite

(1 of 2) The location of the Storm Kite on the map.

Another kite that’s found on the First Zakru, but it will be on the eastern end this time. It’ll be on top of the rock formation, so you’ll need to ride your Ikran to get to it. The kite will be sitting on some rocks on the very tip of the rock formation on the eastern end, so it’s kind of difficult to miss this one.

Windswept Kite - Spite Kite

(1 of 2) The location of the Spite Kite on the map.

For the next one, you will be heading west of the previous one, to the tall rocky pillars near the Hydro Injector Echo RDA Mining Installation. The kite will be on one of the pillars to the east of that RDA installation and it will require your Ikran to reach it. You might need to land on the lower section of the pillar with the kite, then jump up to get to it. Note that there might be two RDA helicopters nearby, so they could come after you, should they spot you.

Windswept Kite - Spirit of the Clan Kite

You will be heading to the Weeping Gorge next, which is just east of the First Zakru. The kite will be on a tall spire here, but you will need to go at it on foot, as some loud-pitched noise frightens your Ikran and it won’t go near the place. Come at the spot from the northern side, as you will need to jump a gap and that’s the only place you can do that.

(1 of 4) The location of the Spirit Clan Kite on the map.

The kite is sitting on top of a tall pillar, so it’s kind of hard to not notice it from a distance. Once you’ve found it, look for the ledge that allows you to jump the gap and remember that you do have a somewhat lesser “second jump” to cover a little more ground. You just have to make sure you don’t miss the jump, as you can’t call your Ikran here.

Windswept Kite - Flower Kite

(1 of 2) The location of the Flower Kite on the map.

East of the Weeping Gorge is the Drill Outpost Charlie RDA Outpost. A little southwest of that is an Aeolian Wind Flute, which will be marked on your map. Right next to that Wind Flute will be a Windbent Tree and the clue you get for being close enough from the quest is *in the branches of a bent tree. So, start running up the tree and look at the end of one of the branches for the kite.

Windswept Kite - Warning Kite

(1 of 2) The location of the Warning Kite on the map.

The location of the Warning Kite on the map. (left), It’s on the end of the arch that you can find there. (right)

You will find this kite just south of the Flower Kite, with the clue given to you upon getting close enough being on a lonely broken arch. There are a series of arches on the western side of the Heart Pierce River. You will want to land with your Ikran on the northernmost of the arches there. Once you have, go to the eastern tip of the arch to find your kite.

Windswept Kite - Fog Guiding Kite

Nearby the previous two kites, this one is found on a cliff overlooking the spot into where the Heart Pierce River flows. If you have the Kitemaker’s Canyon Na’vi Camp, then head straight north from it. The clue mentions two rock pillars, one of which will be standing tall and the other will be leaning. The leaning rock pillar is the key here, since it’s a lot easier to spot that.

(1 of 5) The location of the Fog Guiding Kite on the map.

The goal is to jump onto that leaning rock pillar and continually jump up it, until you can reach a ledge to the side. From there, you can easily continue the climb to a spot with a Sunflower Gigantus. If you’ve never seen one of these, the plant essentially acts like a trampoline. So, you will be using the sunflower to bounce up to the rock pillar with the kite.

Windswept Kite - Fight Kite

(1 of 2) The location of the Fight Kire on the map.

The location of the Fight Kire on the map. (left), Use your Ikran to fly close enough to the kite to grab it. (right)

Look east of the previous kite for this one. If you fly straight east from it, you should spot two rock pillars in that little area. The kite will be on top of the bigger rock pillar, but you won’t be able to land on it, nor climb to the top of it. However, the solution is very simple, as you can easily just get close enough with your Ikran until the button prompt appears to grab the kite.

Windswept Kite - Kite of Water

The final kite on this list is to the east of where Stone Blossom is marked on your map, which is in the same area as the previous kites. There is a broken arch here, with an Ikran Basket on the northern side, but that’s not where the kite is located. It’s found on the top of the broken arch, on the southern side. You will want to be a little careful here, as there might be a Stormglider flying around here. These enemies are high level and depending on your own level, they can easily one-shot you.

(1 of 3) The location of the Kite of Water on the map.

Once you get all nine Windswept Kites, you will unlock the Tethered Kites trophy/achievement. However, you aren’t done with the quest just yet, so head back to The Circle and find Fa’zak. She thanks you for retrieving the kites and asks you to do one more thing for her, so follow her. She’ll stop right outside the village, where she wants you to raise one final kite. Do that and the quest will be over, with your rewards being some Clan Favor, a Skill Point, and the Drifting Sorrow Pouch, an Exquisite Waistcloth Mod.
