All Recon Retrieval Locations - Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

By
Ben Chard

The Western Frontier has plenty of wonders to discover, and throughout you’ll find many collectibles associated with Side Quests. The System Reboot Quest will have you exploring the world in search of Data Collector terminals. Once you’ve activated them, you’ll need to find small terminals nearby to complete the reboot. You’ll be on the hunt for nine particular terminals throughout Pandora, so keep reading to learn where to find them all!

System Reboot is a Side Quest in Avatar that requires you to find missing Data Collectors.

How to Complete System Reboot

Much like the Windswept Dolls, you’ll find two different names for this particular set of collectibles. When you discover a site, they will be marked on the map as Data Collector, however, if you look at your Trophy/Achievement list, you’ll see that the game refers to them as Recon Retrievals. To get the ball rolling though, you’ll need to track down your first Data Collector site.

Once you find one (from the sites below), you’ll be contacted by Alexander, who will give you the details on what he needs you to do. The task is a simple one in practice, use your SID (Systems Interrogation Device) to hack the laptop to begin the process and then seek out three devices in the surrounding area that also require you to use your SID. Once the three have been scanned, that site is considered complete, and you can move on to the next one.

If you want to quickly jump to a specific Data Collector, or if you just want to see what the rewards are for completing all of them, you can use the links below.

Waterway Valley Data Collector

You should start your search for the Data Collectors in the Kinglor Forest, and for the first one, you’ll need to make your way to the Waterway Valley sub-region. Go to the Shadow Hollow here and look to the northwest of the Wetwood Nest Na’vi camp to find the laptop. There are two large mounds here, around which the three devices can be found, none are particularly well hidden so rely on the screens below to pinpoint them.

(1 of 4) Head to Waterway Valley for this Data Collector

Silk Woods Data Collector

The final Data Collector in the Kinglor Forest can be found in the Silk Woods sub-region, a little to the northwest of the Droplet Islands. You’ll find all three devices around the area of the laptop, but it will require climbing up to reach some of them, as shown in the screens below. The toughest device to find is located off the western edge of this area.

(1 of 4) Go to the Silk Woods in Kinglor Forest to find this Data Collector

The Celebration Valley Data Collector

Head over to the Upper Plains for the next four Data Collectors, with The Celebration Valley your first stop. If you look on the upper plateau to the east of Zakru Falls, you’ll find the Crossed Arches Na’vi camp, look to the northeast from here to find your next Data Collector. Similar to the Data Collector in Waterway Valley, two large mounds play host to the three devices here.

(1 of 4) Go to The Celebration Valley in the Upper Plains for this Data Collector

Mother of Rivers Data Collector #1

There are two Data Collectors to find in the Mother of Rivers sub-region, both of which are surprisingly close to each other. If you look to the west of the area, you’ll find the Longing Hand Na’vi camp, and just to the west of it, over the river, is this Data Collector. This is perhaps one of the easier Data Collectors to complete, all three devices are out in the open.

(1 of 4) Head to the west of the Mother of Rivers area in the Upper Falls for this Data Collector

Mother of Rivers Data Collector #2

The second Data Collector located in the Mother of Rivers sub-region can be found in the center of the area, just to the east of Daughter’s Pool. There’s just one rocky outcrop to search around when looking for the three devices, so this one should be rather simple to complete.

(1 of 4) You can find a Data Collector in the center of the Mother of Rivers area

Cascading Stones Data Collector

You’ll now need to make your way to the Clouded Forest region to locate the final four Data Collectors. The first can be found in the Cascading Stones sub-region, look for Nomad’s River and travel down it to the south to find the laptop. This is perhaps the trickiest one to complete, as the final device is actually nowhere near the other two (around the large tree) but instead, found behind a rock across the river!

(1 of 4) Go to the Cascading Stones for this Data Collector

Crimson Great Wood Data Collector

Go to the north of the Clouded Forest, to the Crimson Great Wood sub-region, to locate the next Data Collector. Look for the River of Ancestors and follow it to the east where an RDA Outpost can be found, look to the north of this to find the Data Collector. You’ll find several large mounds around this area, and the three devices are scattered around them.

(1 of 4) Go to the Crimson Great Wood for this Data Collector

The Cut Data Collector #1

The final two Data Collectors can both be found in The Cut, situated to the southwest of the Clouded Forest. You should see the Shrewd River run down the eastern side of this sub-region, search to the northwest of the RDA Outpost in the center of the area to find the Data Collector. The devices in this area are mostly out in the open, so it should be another one that shouldn’t pose too many issues.

(1 of 4) Head to the center of The Cut to find this Data Collector

The Cut Data Collector #2

Just one Data Collector to go, and you’ll also find it in The Cut. There is a large RDA base that dominates this sub-region, and if you go to the northeast, you’ll spot the final Data Collector at the top of a cliff. Two of the devices can be found on the nearby cliff, while the last one sits atop a mound to the southwest.

(1 of 4) Go to the northeast of The Cut to find this Data Collector

Recon Retrieval Rewards - Pathfinder Bracelet Mod

Once you’ve tracked down all nine Data Collectors, return to Alexander at Resistance Hideout to report that the task is complete, not only will you have unlocked the Data Receiver Trophy/Achievement, but you’ll also obtain an Arm Guard Mod and a Pathfinder Bracelet which will give you a much-needed boost to your stats.
