It’s time to rescue an old friend, and yes, it’s that old friend that seemingly died. When you enter his simulation, you find out that it’s in the presentation of a 2D side-scrolling beat-em-up (think Streets of Rage). There’s a total of three levels, with a boss at the end of each level. The thugs in the levels don’t really have any variations, other than sometimes carrying weapons.
At the end of the first level are twins that are just a little stronger than the normal thugs, while Warren Williams is the second boss. If you’re having trouble with them, jumping and attacking in mid-air (should perform a dive kick) should help out a lot. The third boss is Jyunichi and he has two forms, with the first being normal like the others.
For Jyunichi’s second form, it will look like he gained some super powers, but it’s really just two extra moves that you need to watch out for. The first is a spinning drill attack that spans horizontally across the screen and the other attack involves him jumping off of the screen, then slamming into the ground, so keeping moving for the second.
With Gat’s own simulation finished, it’s time to rescue him from Zinyak’s ship and you’ll get to control the mech again, this time complete with weapons the entire mission. Remember to keep in mind that the missiles can overheat, so use them on big groups of enemies for maximum damage. Fight through the Zin, blowing open new doors whenever you need, until you come to the room with Johnny’s pod, which is now empty.
Continue through the ship until you have to hover over long gaps. On the two platforms will appear a Marauder each, so make sure you remember that their weak point is on their back, which is green in color. After these two, keep going until you come to a large room, with the exit blocked by a forcefield. In order to open it, you’re going to need to go crazy and destroy every enemy you see.
Of course, the enemies consist of the normal Zin, the annoying Murderbots (which are easy to kill thanks to the mech) and the even more annoying Marauders. Keep an eye on your health, utilizing any of the crates that contain some, and also watch out when moving from place to place, as you can fall into the pit below and have to reload the checkpoint. The meter in the upper left will fill and once it is, you can go through the door and finally get back Johnny Gat!
