How to Hire a Farmer for the Agricultural Terminal

By
Scott Peers

This page details everything you need to know about how to hire a Farmer for the Agricultural Terminal at your personal base in No Man’s Sky. We’ll cover how to get the blueprint for the Agricultural Terminal by speaking with the Overseer, and where to find a Farmer to recruit.

How to Get the Agricultural Terminal Blueprint in No Man’s Sky

The Agricultural Terminal Blueprint can only be obtained once you’ve established a Construction Terminal at your base, and hired an Overseer to operate it. At this point you’ll need to construct a Science Terminal and a Weapons Terminal before the Expanding the Base quest advances to the point where the blueprint for the Agricultural Terminal becomes available. Once you’ve built the Construction, Science, and Weapons Terminals, the Overseer will tell you that the base is ready for a farmer to join it. However, you won’t get the blueprint for the Agricultural Terminal until you’ve gathered 45 Solanium. This material is most commonly found on scorched planets, where it can be harvested from Solar Vine flora using the Haz-Mat Gauntlet Exosuit module. If you don’t yet have the Haz-Mat Gauntlet, you can purchase the blueprint for it from the Exosuit merchant on board the Space Anomaly. Alternatively, you can try your luck at finding Solanium for sale from Galactic Trade Terminals, or from visiting pilots, since both of these sources will sometimes have it on offer.

Where to Construct the Agricultural Terminal in NMS

After providing the Overseer with 45 Solanium, you should immediately build the Agricultural Terminal in a valid part of your base. As with the other terminals, it will need to be built in an interior space of your base. A lot of players report problems with placing these terminals, so if you encounter any issues you can try to build the terminal inside a Cylindrical Room initially, while you figure out why your base isn’t counting as a valid interior space.

Where to Find a Gek Farmer in No Man’s Sky

The role of a Farmer NPC in your base is restricted to the Gek species, so if you want the best chances of finding a Farmer quickly, you should search in a Gek controlled star system. However, you can always check the local space station before you go warping to different systems, since there’s always a chance that a member of any species in the correct role will be available at any space station. As with the other hired NPCs, there are no real differences between different Gek Farmers that you might encounter, aside from their cosmetic appearance. Be sure to check every part of the space station for viable NPCs, including the back room behind where the technology merchants have set up shop.

Farmer Blueprints

There are a number of blueprints that the Farmer will offer to you as you gather materials and complete tasks for them. All of these are related to growing flora from specific plantable seeds. The below table details all of the blueprints offered by the Farmer.
