Party all day! Party all night!

While you’re visiting a friend’s town or hosting friends to your town, there are a lot of things you can do and some things you can’t do.

We’ll first mention the things you can’t do, to get them out of the way.

As a visitor to the realm, you can’t…

  • Save the game (only the host can).
  • Take items inside the host’s house (but anywhere else is fair game!).
  • Lay patterns on the floor or get rid of them.
  • Do anything with villagers (except gain brownie points), unless they have a petition or the villager is in boxes.
  • Do anything with campers, so no inviting foreign campers.
  • Take lost items from the Police Office (or on the ground).
  • Sell in Re-tail’s flea market (but they can sell to Reese).

Whether you’re the host or a visitor, you can’t…

  • Use the Town Hall; Isabelle just sits around looking pretty.
  • Donate to the Museum, so no helping a friend complete their museum collection.

Meanwhile, everything else you could do in your own village, you can do with friends too! We’ll just highlight the important ones.

Anybody can…

  • Peruse the shops (useful for finding that elusive piece of furniture).
  • Sell turnips in Re-tail (cha-ching!).
  • Take any item lying on the floor–including flowers!
  • Use the Bug Net, Fishing Rod, Shovel, Axe (watch your trees!) or Watering Can.
  • Trample over and ruin flowers and grass (don’t do it!).
  • Drop items on the floor (useful for trading items).
  • Visit Tortimer Island (but everybody in the session must come).

So she says as the mayor of Peiwen stands behind her…

When you’re playing with friends (or even strangers), do be sure to follow the unwritten Animal Crossing house rules–most of it should be common sense.

  • Don’t run! You can trample flowers and ruin the grass.
  • Don’t take items or flowers without permission!
  • If you’re trading online, stay near the Train Station and don’t wander, so the host can see you!
