Now that your house has been built you can carry out some more of your mayoral duties.

Go back to the Town Hall to speak to Isabelle the day after you’ve moved in and she’ll explain the difference between the counter and the chair. Be sure to get a picture taken for your Town Pass Card using the photo booth on Main Street.

At the counter you can ask for advice for living in your town. Isabelle will give you some ideas about what you can do in your town and she’ll even give you some tools.

Be sure to make a note of what Timmy and Tommy are selling as you can only get either the rod or net from Isabelle so you’ll want to get whatever isn’t selling in Timmy and Tommy’s shop.

You can also speak to Isabelle to find out the citizen satisfaction level in your town. This will help you attain perfect town status.

You can also change the town tune and flag at the counter and talk to Isabelle about problematic citizens (i.e. stop them from using catchphrases you taught them).

Keep speaking to Isabelle and asking for advice on living in your town to get the tools.

If you sit in the chair at the back of the Town Hall you can conduct mayoral business. You’ll need a town development permit before you can do anything and there are two requirements for this.

Firstly you’ll need a house, which you have, and 100 points of approval from your citizens. Isabelle will give you advice on what you can do to increase your approval so just follow her instructions and you’ll be developing in no time!

Once you’ve got 100 points you can set ordinances and construct Public Works. See the “ Mayoral Duties “ section for more details.

At this point you’re free to work as mayor, plant flowers, go hunting, chop trees (like George Washington) or dig up fossils (like Indiana Jones). Of course you could always just walk with the animals, talk with the animals, grunt and squeak and squawk with the animals!
