Each character in Visions of Mana are able to change to various classes, all of which are based on their currently equipped Elemental Vessel. However, this only grants them the benefit of that class, especially in terms of passive skills, as well as the weapon they can use. You are able to use the battle skills across the various classes, though. Once you beat the main story and load up the Clear Game file, you will be able to make custom classes that revolve around each character’s base class.
Equipping Passive Skills¶
After beating the main story, you will be able to start the Postgame Story, which is basically a Chapter 10 (Chapter 9 finishes the main story). While in Chapter 10, you will be able to purchase the final Tonics for your Elemental Plots. Just head to any of the Grizzly Exchanges to find the Tonics on sale for 20 Grizzly Syrups each. Do this to unlock the final tier on the Elemental Plots, which will allow you to spend 100 Elemental Points each on the final two skills. Upon mastering a class for the first time, you should get a popup tutorial about custom classes.
Essentially, custom classes revolve around each of the character’s base class, like Guard for Val. Go on over to the Vessels page for any character with a mastered class in the postgame and choose to change into the base class. Once you do, click on it again and you will now see options to change the Elemental Vessel, weapon type, and Class Strike. Other than the base class’ weapon type, you can only choose options from the classes you have mastered. It should be noted that the base classes don’t offer any boosts to stats (or stat drops).
Head on over to Abilities, then the tab for Class Abilities will be blank and have ten slots. This is where you can insert any passives from the classes you have mastered. On the first playthrough, you could probably master three classes, which will net you a good full list of passives to use in the base class. If you wish to master more, you’ll have to do New Game Plus. As an example, you could have Val as a tank class, but with the passive that essentially makes all of his Saber-buffing magic hit the whole party.
