Visions of Mana

New Game Plus Explained

By
Jarrod Garripoli

There are plenty of games out there that let you replay the game with your strong characters, usually in the form of New Game Plus, and Visions of Mana is no exception here. As expected, you will unlock New Game Plus in Visions of Mana after completing the main story. Once you reach the end of the credits, you’ll be able to save a clear file, then on the title screen, New Game Plus will be selectable right above New Game. The big question, though, is what carries over into New Game Plus and is there any new content?

You’ll gain access to New Game Plus after finishing the main story.

What Carries Over into New Game Plus

Most of the stuff you’ve accrued in your normal playthrough will likely be carrying over into New Game Plus. That includes things like your characters’ levels, all of their equipment, and all of your items in your inventory. Additionally, you will have access to all of the Elemental Vessels from the beginning of the game, once you’re past the prologue bit. Of course, all of your Elemental Points will be refunded, so you will have to build up your characters again, especially if you were using a custom build.

One of the few things that doesn’t get carried over into New Game Plus is your key items. That makes sense, though, since you will be going through the story again. There is a single key item that is kept, which is the "Diary Page" iconDiary Pages from the Li’l Cacti. That also means the benefits you unlock from finding them are active as soon as you take control of "Val" iconVal in Tianeea. Unfortunately, your in-game bestiary will be reset, too, so you’ll need to fight all of the enemies again if you didn’t get the related trophy/achievement.

What’s New in New Game Plus

The bad news with New Game Plus is that there really isn’t anything new for you to do. Expert Difficulty is unlocked and you will likely want to be in New Game Plus to experience it, since enemies are a lot stronger. Other than that, though, no new content is available, so you can’t look forward to any new bosses or story. All of the chests and Elementite reset, though, which means you will be able to accrue more Elemental Points towards the Elemental Plots of your characters. With the Vessels being unlocked right away, this means you won’t have to backtrack to get everything later.

With New Game Plus, it will be possible to max out all of your classes on the Elemental Plots, thus making it really easy to customize your base class. Likewise, the "Grizzly Syrup" iconGrizzly Syrups and golden spots will also respawn, so you can go around and collect them all again. The shops do reset, so you will have to progress to get all of the good stuff in them again.
